About this deal

I also love the fact that it is so transportable (though adding nearly a kilogram in your backpack might make you cringe, it compensates a lot when you cook in a matter of minutes with greater security). So before we’d even got our hands on the Bushbox, we’d done a deep dive into whether it could tick all the boxes we were looking for. All parts with high thermal stress (bottom plate, trivets) are made from stainless steel to make sure they do not warp. The exactness of the engineering, the hinges, the edges (I’ve need to file other makes) and the way it fits together is very impressive. All stoves are produced exclusively in Germany and manufactured using environmentally friendly processes.

Great addition to my cooking arsenal and also fantastic to sit around and enjoy as a secure camp fire.Besides being bigger than most hobo stoves I have seen or used, it weighs only about 900 grams and takes very little space. Firing up is quick and painless, and there is enough room for a good supply of fuel, so you are not feeding it all the time. When you’re finished the Bushbox folds away similarly with a little shake to collapse the ashtray and lower grate. Dissassembled it folds up to a very small space of a mere 19 x 12,5 x 1 cm, meaning it takes up almost no space in your pack. Secondly, if you do manage to get one set of tabs located in the notches and under the lugs the ones on the other side come out.

The fire is cheerful and cozy and the smell of wood smoke evokes wonderful memories of being out in the woods with my father when I was young (many years ago! The Bushbox XL utilises the chimney effect which results in intense heat up to 800°C (even damp material can be used once the fire has started).Together with a pair of variable Trivets, you are perfectly equipped and flexible in every way when you are out and about.

I got the combination version with big xl grate and use it with a variety of fuel from trangia to charcoal but do find myself wishing i had a second set of trivets so it can be moved and still support a small 500ml pot.The metal prongs mean a spirit burner, gas burner or multi-fuel burner can sit inside the stove with a pot on top to cook.
