In the third instalment of the hilarious Adrian Mole series, 16-year-old Adrian navigates his way into adulthood . The fifth book in his hilarious diaries, where Adrian faces divorce, fatherhood and (short-lived) television stardom . Meet Adrian Mole, a hapless teenager providing an unabashed, pimples-and-all glimpse into adolescent life. Adrian Mole: The Cappuccino Years is the fifth book in Sue Townsend's brilliantly funny Adrian Mole series. The designer opted for pastel shades for each book in the series, which strikes me as a little odd given that I would normally associate the colour scheme (though not the overall effect, I admit) with chick-lit.

In his debut diary entry, on 1 January 1981, his very first words were “I will help the blind across the road”. When Hattie is sent to her room for being sick in her step-father's fish tank, she decides to start writing a diary and sort her life out. The troubled teenager continues to struggle valiantly against the slings and arrows of growing up and his own family's attempts to scar him for life. He's still writing bloody awful poetry which, at 13 3/4 was amusing, it's rather less so at age 20 (and 8 months, which he still finds it necessary to add. Upon reading "The True Confessions of Adrian Mole" I must say that I find it rather unnerving after two books covering daily entries from Adrian's life over a period of 1 1/2 years each, having the third volume of the series (no lengthier than the first two) feature essays, radio broadcasts, selected letters and covering a period of 5+ years. Adrian Mole: The Cappuccino Years was broadcast on BBC One between 2 February and 9 March 2001, starring Stephen Mangan as Adrian Mole, Alison Steadman as Pauline Mole and Helen Baxendale as Pandora Braithwaite. deskbound civil servant in Oxford to part-time washer-upper in Soho; he finds that critical reception for his epic novel; Lo!

He was just a kid growing up in Leicester, England, with acne and a crush and a bully and a crazy home life. I applaud the sentiment, but I must confess that I wish she hadn’t gone down the path she chose; while Adrian’s pursuit of Pandora was always amusing for its hopelessness, his relationship with Daisy appeared to be the true romance of the series, and its collapse was unfortunate. The Lost Diaries of Adrian Mole; 1999-2001 is the seventh book in Sue Townsend's brilliantly funny Adrian Mole series. I thought the character of Adrian was rather annoying and at age 14 should at least have some understanding of finance and should start thinking of how having little finance effects everyone and not just the fact that he cant but mars bars. They also capture the Thatcher-led zeitgeist of the UK that was one of the most pivotal moments in modern history. She also relies on him on occasion; when she becomes pregnant as a teenager, Adrian supports her decision to have an abortion. The character of Adrian Mole is really good, realistic and interesting - I particularly love him with Pandora and the school trip scene.

He is the type of boy who believes that everyone including the teachers, his parents, and Barry Kent the school bully will one day pay for not being nice to him. A year and a half is inexplicably 'lost' before the next update, and the time line also seems to have gone wandering - a year and a half has passed according to the dates, but only six months according to the diary itself. Some of his traits are diminished a little by time: Mole no longer has such a heightened view of his importance in the world, and is not so blithely unaware of his surroundings as he once was. We work closely with publishers and authors to ensure that we offer the best books on the market for your child. Though not especially popular he has a small circle of friends and even a girlfriend Pandora Braithwaite (whose parents Ivan and Tania are affluent Trotskyites).

Telling us candidly about his parents' marital troubles, The Dog, his life as a tortured poet and 'misunderstood intellectual', his love for the divine Pandora and his horror at learning of his mother's pregnancy, Adrian's painfully honest diary is a hilarious and heartfelt chronicle of misspent adolescence.ISBN: 9780141315980 Author: Townsend, Sue Publisher: Penguin Books Publication Date: 31st October 2002 Imprint: Penguin Books Cover: Paperback Dewey: 823. He does well in school though he is not that gifted and often suffers from the ire of Pop Eye Scruton the headmaster. She suffered from diabetes for many years, as a result of which she was registered blind in 2001, and had woven this theme into her work. The first books concentrate on Adrian's desires and ambitions in life (to marry his teenage sweetheart, publish his poetry and novels, obtain financial security) and his complete failure to achieve them.
