About this deal

This is a bag that’s going to last for a long time, so while it’s definitely a bit pricey, it certainly looks and feels like it will be with you for decades or more. The warranty is only 1 year though, which is a little disappointing.

In this review, we’re mainly going to be taking a look at the small camera cube—which is the one we’ve been using the most. We’ll go over a couple of unique features that the medium and the large have, but for the most part, they’re are all the same. Peak Design Camera Cube Materials Now, with Version 2, Peak Design adds new sizes of their Cubes, including X-Small and Smedium. This adds to the Small, Medium and Large Cubes. All the former Cubes have been redesigned, and here are the new features: The X-small Camera Cube V2 is tiny and has an internal volume of just 3.5 liters. It is well-suited to carrying a small drone, an action camera, or a non-gripped interchangeable camera with a compact lens. WANDRD named the lineup “Essential,” which explains why there’s very little styling—there’s a much deeper focus on functionality. In relation to the more practical aspects of the design, the usual quality materials are here. The main fabric is 420D Robic Nylon with a weather-resistant coating, the same fabric used on their Toiletry Bag. Holding the flaps in place are YKK zippers, and they’re as smooth and reliable as we’ve come to know them. WANDRD Essential Deep Camera Cube | The zippers are dependable YKKs.

You can use pieces of felt and foam and even use cardboard for the reinforced sections where your DSLR camera and lenses will be stored. Since it doesn’t have a camera cube (opting instead for padded dividers), the Jumper remains compact even when fully loaded. I couldn’t stop playing with the Dalston for the whole 2 weeks I tested it! Virtually everyone commented on it, photographer or otherwise. I can imagine in the loud orange (‘nasturtium’) colourway, you’d get even more attention.

Capacity: 20L (+3) | Dimensions: 13.70 x 10.63 x 19.21 in (34.8 x 27 x 48.79 cm) | Weight: 5.72 lbs (2.59 kg) | LowePro ProTactic 450 AW II Review Capacity: 25L | Dimensions: 11.54 x 8.19 x 19.17 in (29.3 x 20.8 x 48.7 cm) | Weight: 4.13 lbs (1.87 kg) | Lowepro Freeline BP 350 Aw Review I loved the zippered access points from multiple sides, and that exterior webbing that serves as carry handles that are built into the design from any side of the bags. No spinning the bags to find a place to grab it. A camera insert (aka camera bag dividers) is a protective shell in a camera bag that surrounds your equipment with padded dividers to prevent it from moving around in transit.

Safely carry all your photography essentials with case inserts and compartments. If you do a lot of traveling and field work, consider investing in durable carrying cases and dividers to ensure your equipment stays in optimal working condition. No matter how you prefer to transport your gear, protective camera bag inserts provide safe and reliable storage for camera bodies, lenses, memory cards, and other accessories.

Makes you feel a bit like a soldier…if not for the branding. Men might compliment, but women probably won’t. :p And lastly, there are small little loops on each corner of the bag that are pretty incognito. They sit right up against the bag, so they’re not going to snag anything accidentally but you can still get some good functionality out of them. Peak Design Camera Cube Interior If you’d rather not spend money on a camera bag insert for your mirrorless or DSLR camera, spare batteries, and other accessories, you can make your own bag on a budget. The camera-carrying portion of the F-Stop Ajna uses removable ICUs (Internal Camera Units) and can hold up to a Large Pro. Depending on how you configure it, the Pro can hold 1-2 camera bodies and 4-6 lenses (a couple of long lenses plus smaller ones), plus other goodies. Need more space for hiking essentials? Choose a smaller ICU like the Slope or the Shallow. (All sold separately.)

What I like

It takes some practice to flip it around and access the camera compartment without taking the bag off. Otherwise, everything is standard. Lift up each side and pin and stitch them together around the central storage area, trimming any excess foam from the corners and sides. It’s a little hard to get in and out of the lowest internal compartment since the size zip doesn’t run low enough. Also, I find roll-top bags a little fiddly and unnecessary with their additional steps to get gear in and out of. Obviously, some of the criteria are highly subjective. Whether a camera ‘looks cool’ or not was left to me and my wife to decide, and you may not agree with our taste!
