About this deal

Once you try it, it’s easy to see why the WeeRide Kangaroo is The No. 1 selling seat in the USA and U.K. The weight limits are set by EU (15kgs) and US (18kgs). However, these are based on seats that attach to the handlebars where it is clearly dangerous to have too much weight directly affecting steering. As above, I would recommend a front or centre mounted seat. Just for the benefits of being able to communicate with your child and for their enjoyment. CRUISER BIKE

WeeRide seats are unique as although they are at the front of the bike they are not front mounted. They actually improve the balance of the bike as the patented centre-mounted bar puts all the baby weight in the centre of the bike. However, with no foot straps on the latest Kangaroo model (2021), a child’s foot is free to come out of the foot cups. Those little feet can end up on your handlebars, which happened to us the very first time we took our tester out for a ride. Is it sold by a major brand ? This should give you peace of mind and know that safety would be their priority – WeeRide, Polisport, Belelli, Hamax, Raleigh are all major companies that would not take a chance with your child’s safety. SAFETY FEATURES TO LOOK FOR IN THE BEST KIDS BIKE SEATOur primary tester for the WeeRide was almost 3 years old and in the 90 th percentile for height and weight. He fit very comfortably in the seat once we adjusted for maximum space in the harness and footrests, and was clearly at the upper end of the tolerances for this model. More like giant foot cups, the footrests were big enough for our tester to keep his foot in while barefoot, wearing his favorite rain boots, and in regular sneakers.

WeeRide accepts no responsibility for any damage to a bike where the product has not been correctly fitted. If you don’t have enough room on your headtube to mount, the WeeRide front-mounted seat has an optional mounting adapter for threadless headsets. The adapter consists of a single spacer that you install on your steertube as a replacement for one of the current spacers. (NOTE: We cannot currently find this adapter available for sale online.) The downside of this system is that this single screw is the only thing that attaches the seat to the mounting bar. In addition to the screw being slightly shorter than we prefer, the knob to loosen this screw is placed at the base of the child’s seat and easily within reach. For WeeRide bike seats weight is never the factor that stops a child using the seat, it is height. The child will start to run out of room for their legs. But because kids have different body and leg make-ups, and bikes have different geometries, we don’t give an official height. We just generalise and say height becomes an issue around aged 4.

This WeeRide Safe Front Bike Seat sits centrally on the top tube of a bike, not the handlebars. This allows for greater bike control as the weight distribution is central and for a fantastic view for the little ones. The greater view allows parents to engage with their child more often, pointing out the surroundings and feel safer wrapped in their arms on each ride. The footrests on the WeeRide Kangaroo areheight-adjustable and can easily be adjusted on the fly. The longest footrest position, however, is pretty short though. In fact, although almost a year apart in age, both of our testers use the footrest at the lowest position. Considering the highest position is just below the bend for the knee, the upper positions are not practical.Giving the seat a freshen up with some new straps or replacing the occasional part saves the cost of buying an entirely new seat if anything does break or wear out.

The type of bike you have influences how to choose the best child bike seat. Most bikes can accommodate all types of seat so your choice is often based on where you would prefer your child to be positioned on the bike. ROAD BIKEWhether your child is 6 months or 5 years old, or somewhere in between, the easiest way to carry them with you on a bicycle is on a kids bike seat.
