About this deal

No, this budget-priced instrument isn’t going to dethrone your premium-priced Martin or Taylor, but it’s going to try damn well hard to do so for the duration of time you have it in your lap, and who knows, it might even win you over in the process.

Please note that this extended warranty is currently only available on products sold within the UK, EU or EEA, and is subject to the terms and conditions as detailed on the extended warranty certificate provided. The FG800 was a top player during our test sessions. It was big and bold, and far outperformed its price tag (and our expectations). It was well set up right out of the box, with a nice medium height action,

The Yamaha FG800 – the reigning king of the budget dreadnought

Perfect for new, developing, and seasoned players on a budget. The FG Series offers high-quality instruments with great tone and playability. Yamaha's legendary quality control ensures that the guitar is setup to the same specifications as their high-end instruments. An outstanding playing experience with an affordable price tag. Improve and develop your skills with Yamaha's solid top acoustic guitar. Sound that just keeps giving Yamaha FS800 : If you find the bulky frame of the dreadnought too much to get your arm around, or perhaps you’re looking for a less boomy sound, then it’s worth trying the smaller body of the Yamaha FS800. Otherwise the playability of this guitar is pretty good, and this guitar is actually one of the best acoustic guitars for beginners. Action

Has some nice features such as cream plastic binding that result in a nice-looking guitar (though admittedly these are purely cosmetic). They could achieve even better tone, in my opinion, if they used something better than plastic for the saddle and nut. But this is something that you can replace. Great electrics including a system 66 feature, 3-band EQ under saddle piezo, and adjustable frequency controls for the low to mid-range.The tonewoods used to construct a guitar is one of the primary considerations you want to make when buying. And while you can't expect all-solid woods or exotic tonewoods to be used in a budget instrument, the FG800 has surprisingly good construction for the price. At the same time, it is subjected to vigorous strumming with a plectrum ensuring that no matter which model you choose, it will also look great both on stage and in the studio for years to come. This entry-level guitar from one of the best-known names in the business is a great option for those new to playing. Like the Yamaha FG series, it’s based on the Dreadnaught model, meaning it can be on the larger size for smaller or younger players. However, unlike the FG series, it doesn’t have the quality of sound, a result of Fender using laminated rather than solid wood. Saying that, for those new to playing, this probably isn’t that noticeable, meaning it’s a good value-for-money guitar. Pros and Cons: Pros

Another aspect in which both instruments differ is in sound and tone. The FS800’s smaller body profile omits a brighter, more present tone.

What's Included:

The mid range, particularly at the lower end of the mids, was the most prominent part of the FG800s tone profile, but they never felt overpowering. In fact, they complemented the upper registers well to provide some great balance to the tone. This is great as the tuning keys are generally the first piece of hardware to get thrown into the fire when manufacturers decide to keep costs down on an acoustic guitar.
