With a 1m impact resistance rating, this flashlight can withstand falls and other impacts without damaging its internal components. It’s using TIR optics with 2 LEDs sitting in the center of each optic. In my sample, the TIR optics had some kind of damage or dirt in the optics. This is invisible in the beam, but you can definitely see it in my close-up pictures. The charging port cover of the EDC27 is made from durable PC material, providing excellent dust and impact resistance. This means you can take your EDC27 with you wherever you go without worrying about damaging it. Nitecore has always been a reliable brand for me. But I was blown away by my experience with the Nitecore EDC27. But the EDC27’s durability didn’t stop there. Its scratch and fingerprint-resistant surface ensured that the flashlight always looked clean and new, even after heavy use.

At the top of the line is the turbo mode, which on paper claims to output 3000 lumens of light, actually exceeds that; I got around 3688 lumens in the first 10 to 15 mins. The flashlight is reinforced with a carbon fiber polymer (CFRP) frame, making it more durable and impact-resistant.The ATR module is responsible for monitoring the temperature of the flashlight and adjusting the output accordingly.

The clip has a number of holes, too, including this loop seemingly ideal for attaching the included lanyard. I tested the top three modes, including Turbo, which resets (or steps down) in relation to heat build up. So Turbo can last a second or less, or whatever, but let me tell you: it can get hot.
