One of many things that had my blood boiling She lets her own son die so she can get Anahita's child out of sight and "prevent scandal" from coming down on the Astbury name. So blinded by her hate and views... she kind of screwed the pooch with how she raised Daisy and in turn, how Daisy treated poor Anthony. One character thought the Astbury's started going downhill after Donald and Violet died and I would have to agree. It had some serious flaws, mind you. Trite dialogue ("I just want to make love to my girl"), one-dimensional heroes and villains, the thing where the narrative totally skips over relationship building moments and tells you the characters are in love, etc etc. However I was curious enough about where the story might head, and was decently engaged. It did a pretty good job of balancing two different storylines as well. So the quality wasn't the best, but the entertainment was pretty nice.

Millman was a member of Detroit’s Purple Gang, a bootlegging outfit, who became a loose cannon. He stirred trouble with beefs against members of his own gang, and those of competing gangs. Millman’s behavior was bad for business, and the locals repeatedly tried to do him in, but failed – including a car bomb that killed an unfortunate valet attendant, but spared Millman. Riley continues her run of solid, if earthbound, love stories, but this one derails close to its conclusion. Determining a color scheme is one of the most important parts when making a bouquet.
