About this deal

For fans of Eleanor Oliphant and other novels with a quirky lead character just trying to find her way in life.

Cecelia Ahern never follows the crowd and her latest novel is a delight – funny, thought-provoking and original’ Mirror Sometimes the people who have the power to change your life are the ones who have been there all along… Allegra’s not the easiest person to like at times. I would assume, although it is not specifically said, she is on the autism spectrum. However, without spoiling, Allegra is used, abused and let down so many times, I just prayed there would be some sort of happy ending eventually. On that score, I don’t think it’s a spoiler to say Ahern includes a lovely romance for Allegra. If you’re not a romance fan, fear not, as it’s not the entire focus of the plot. Instead, it’s the strength of family and unexpected friendships which make the book so special. As one can imagine, it doesn’t necessarily go as planned and letters to the likes of Amal Clooney and an Irish Olympian disappear into the ether. a b c d Cecelia Ahern's Official Biography, archived from the original on 4 December 2007 , retrieved 31 December 2007When a stranger sets her mind running with the sentence “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with”, this begins a journey for Allegra to find out who in her life makes her who she is.
