About this deal

Cloudburst’s Ensemble switch reveals a new world of captivating sounds never heard before from a reverb pedal. Use Ensemble subtly to add harmonically rich otherworldly dimensions to your ambient reverb soundscape, or use it liberally to hear a lush synthesized string section swell under your guitar playing. Ensemble reacts to your entire guitar signal smoothly, organically, and musically for a richly responsive and inspiring playing experience. From Amp-In-A-Closet to Infinite Space

Immersive Soundscapes - Incredibly authentic, the Strymon Cloudburst delivers elevated ambient reverb that's bound to cater for everything from lush guitar leads to drone-like synths. Utilising cutting-edge algorithms and a 24-bit 96kHz AD/DA, 520MHz 32-bit floating ARM Superscalar processor, the result is an intricately detailed reflection and reverb tails without needing too much juice on pedalboards. This generating of upper harmonics delivers a different effect in its ‘mp’ (mezzo piano, moderately soft) and ‘forte’ (loud) modes. The former could best be described as adding a rich enhancement, but the forte setting sounds like you’ve got a sustained string section, not unlike the sound of a 1970s Solina string synth, lurking behind your guitar. But the real cherry on top of these videos is when Strymon’s co-founder and reverb wizard, Pete Celi, takes you on a guided tour of the Cloudburst. He shares his secret sauce and enthusiasm for crafting the ultimate reverb experience and gives you a VIP behind-the-scenes look at what makes the Cloudburst a one-of-a-kind masterpiece. High-quality sound: The Cloudburst delivers top-notch reverb that sounds like the real deal. You can create anything from realistic room reverbs to out-of-this-world soundscapes.

There are three modes to this Ensemble effect. As the name implies, when the Ensemble switch is in the off position there is nothing added to your reverb sound, However in the middle position (mp) you are instantly greeted with a subtle addition of harmonics, and when switched to the last position (forte, our favourite) you get the maximum amount of string ambient. It’s a different flavour of the sort of modified ethereal reverb sounds that made Strymon’s name over a decade ago, and with the Jazzmaster in full shimmering clean mode, the Ensemble adds a wonderful sense of textured, string-like movement to our playing, as if you’re being accompanied by a faux orchestra. Later in the video, Pete is joined by DSP/firmware genius, Dean Miller, to spill the tea on the exciting new Ensemble feature. It offers even more ways for guitarists to add new flavors to their soundscape. With these two Strymon wizards’ combined expertise, guitarists will better understand the Cloudburst and how to use it to create their personal sound. Kernom's MOHO Magmatic Fuzz Station is billed as the first augmented analogue fuzz in the world. The pedal looks to do for fuzz pedalswhat the groundbreaking Ridge Augmented Analog Overdrivedid for overdrives. If an item can not be repaired, a similar alternative product or cash discount (as defined in this policy) will be offered Can be set to operate in one of five modes: Expression Pedal, Favorite, Freeze, Infinite, or MIDI Mode. See User Manual for details. See complete User Manual for details about configuring for MIDI communication or accessories such as Strymon Conduit, MultiSwitch Plus, and MiniSwitch.

Having used the Cloudburst’s older and larger counterpart, the BigSky, the effect feels reminiscent of some of the more ambient algorithms on that pedal (labelled Bloom and Cloud). These too create big, wash-like textures beneath the incoming dry sound. The reverb does, as Strymon claims, create a big ambience, but the sound isn’t overpowering and the dry signal cuts through cleanly without being swamped by the tail. Image: Strymon Our most profound moment with the Cloudburst however, happened when we paired it with other esoteric pedals, such as the Chase Bliss Mood or the Hologram Electronics Microcosm. In tandem with either of these, the Cloudburst is transformed into a glitchy weapon of lo-fi ambience that Thom Yorke could write an album on top of. Strymon describes it as an "expanded" version and that translates as more sonic versatility for your playing needs. Cloudburst could certainly serve as your only reverb or an excellent second source if you're happy to engage with its impressively scoped controls between songs. Also announced at the NAMM show was EarthQuaker Devices Aurelius Tri-Chorus. It's a compact stompbox inspired by a vintage Boss chorus pedal that offers players three modes of modulation, programmable presets, and the option of control via expression pedal.

The simple look and feel of Cloudburst belies the power underneath the hood, because it produces some of the most gorgeous ambient reverb tones and soundscapes that you’ve ever heard out of a guitar reverb pedal – there’s literally nothing else quite like it. Stamp on the Clipping footswitch and it engages the alternative clipping options, all six of which are accessed via an oxblood-coloured rotary knob. The other footswitch bypasses/engages the effect. Expression pedal input allows the connection of a TRS expression pedal, MiniSwitch, MultiSwitch Plus, or TRS MIDI connection. All the premium components, sound quality, and road worthiness you expect from a Strymon reverb pedal are in Cloudburst’s new compact format. It’s got our discrete JFET analog front end, ultra-quiet 116dB signal to noise performance, a powerful ARM Superscalar processor, stereo input/output, and full MIDI control. Featuring unbeatable ease of use and producing some of the finest reverb sounds we’ve ever created; Cloudburst could easily be the only reverb pedal you need on your pedalboard. In addition to offering doubled delay times that the original didn't, footswitch options allow players to add tap tempo, adjust real-time effects and customise oscillation sounds via the UAFX Control app.

Controls : Decay, (Strings) Ensemble : Off / Moderate (mezzo piano) / Strong (forte), Mix, Pre-Delay, Tone, Modulation. Finally, we wanted to create a pedal that was the most simple and intuitive to use of any product we’d ever designed. So with Cloudburst, there are no secondary or “hidden” functions. The pedal is controlled by just a few knobs and a switch exactly as they are labelled, so you can instantly dial up the perfect sound with no learning curve required. Decay We had some very lofty goals in mind with Cloudburst, and foremost on the list was creating the best-sounding single algorithm reverb we possibly could. We knew that we wanted to provide the spacious experiences from BigSky’s Cloud machine at higher decay settings, and we set about tailoring the short end of the decay range to generate a huge variety of natural and studio-quality smaller spaces as well. These American-made pedals are not only built like tanks, but they offer incredible tones too. History of Strymon So the core Cloud Algorithm with Ensemble set to Off is already supremely versatile and varied - while Ensemble then delivers two different degrees of a Synth-like Ensemble Strings Pad. With the Tone at lower levels those Strings sound more Cello-like, while higher up you get increasingly sharper Violins! The Tone knob really has an extraordinary range.
