About this deal

There is so much more that could possibly be told in this story, but unless there is a sequel, we will just have to make up our own future for Devan and the rest. Thank you to NetGalley, Kensington Books and Briana Cole herself for reaching out & giving me this ARC. She is certain the body is not Kennedy. So who the hell is this woman and why has she been identified as her sister? Where is the real Kennedy? I’m not sure if the ending is necessarily ‘likable’ but it kinda fit. It’s just not really a ‘feel good’ ending and is a little open. So if you don’t like that kind of ending, it may frustrate you. Unless she plans to do a sequel? Maybe…

If you can handle the swearing, I would recommend this book. It’s a great read if you can get past that bit.

Lastly, the ending seemed like it came out of nowhere, which I felt let down. After everything I read and the things thrown at me, I was hoping for a better ending than the one I read.

We follow Deven on her investigation to neighborhoods she never thought she’d go to, and even a visit to prison. We also follow her on a journey through grief, having recently lost her father to cancer, essentially her mother who has dementia, her twins that she miscarried, and now possibly her sister. There are many twists and turns - the ending is satisfying but sometimes it does feel like, as a reader, you are being thrown all over the place.

Behind Her Eyes London location: What areas do Louise, David and Adele live in and is N1 Madison Terrace a real place? BEHIND HER LIVES started out strong and I was really into the story, but then things fell flat during the middle, and I wasn't a fan of the ending. Thanks to Tantor Audio, the author and NetGalley for the advance audiobook. I am voluntarily leaving my honest review* Some of my favorite thrillers are family thrillers, especially about sisters. This one was suspenseful and full of mystery. I really like Deven and how she dove right into the case. Amateur investigations are also a favorite of mine. There were some slow moments due to the dual-timelines, but in the end it was all worth it because it helped build the suspense. I don’t like what Deven did with that diary at the end. I don’t think that was smart, especially with the slightly open-ended ending. I think that would have been something important to keep if she wanted complete justice eventually.

Describing the show to Heart.co.uk ahead of its release, Eve Hewson - who plays Adele - said: "The show is a psychological thriller, and it's a love triangle about a single mother named Louise who starts an affair with her boss while simultaneously sparking up a friendship with his wife."The more she digs, the more she realizes she maybe didn’t know her sister as well as she thought. In fact, her entire childhood and family weren’t quite what she thought they were. This was my first book by Briana Cole but definitely not the last I’m so glad I requested this audiobook and was able to read it. Behind Her Lives by Briana Cole. Thanks to the author, @netgalley and @kensingtonbooks for the gifted Arc ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ There is profanity. I did notice it was minimal and appeared culturally correct (given my studies and readings).

Content Advisory: 26 f-words, 64 s-words, 50 d-words; one short sex scene; suicide; miscarriage, including one dream post-miscarriage that was a little gruesome]Behind Her Eyesis the perfect duplicity-hinting title for a series that conceals what it is until the very end. The name works both for the psychological adultery thriller that this Netflix adaptation presents as, and for the supernatural story it’s really telling.
