About this deal

The world stopping seemed to me to be the kind of idea I’d have really gotten into as a kid, too. I used to love the high concepts of Roald Dahl, just like everyone else who’s ever written a piece about children’s books. I liked them because they made me wonder, but because they also made me laugh… and sometimes cower. And it's being caused by The WorldStoppers and their terrifying friends The Terribles! They have a PLAN! They want to take our world for their own . . . Oh, and they hate children. Especially if you're a child who knows about them. Within every pause, the creatures known as the worldstoppers come to terrorize the town, but of course no one knows, except for the PDF. At the end of the book there is a massive battle between the PDF and the worldstoppers. In the past, Hamish's Dad had been taken by the worldstoppers (or so he thinks), and after the battle he goes to save him, but it turns out that he is gone.

The story is well-paced and targets itself nicely at the intended audience without being super-obvious about it. There are a few body-related humour moments but no extreme out-there potty-humour like The Day My Bum Went Psycho and friends (which is why I'm reading this, looking for alternatives for my son who really dislikes that kind of humour that seems to be how many books in his age range are written). There is at least one breach of the fourth wall to point out a particular scene that very specifically does not get used to show how Hamish is the "better man" in a situation, I think that there are a bunch of nice takeaways in the book but it doesn't take itself too seriously and isn't preachy. What would YOU do...if the whole world just stopped? Yes the WHOLE WORLD. Birds in the air. Planes in the sky. And every single person on the planet - except you! Because that's what keeps happening to ten-year-old Hamish Ellerby. And it's being caused by The WorldStoppers and their terrifying friends The Terribles! They have a PLAN! They want to take our world for their own ...Oh, and they hate children. Especially if you're a child who knows about them. Hang on - You know now, don't you? Oh dear. Can Hamish save us from the WorldStoppers? Only time will tell! About This Edition ISBN: Sometimes I’d try and catch the world out. I’d stare one way, or look another, or maybe even pretend I was falling asleep… and then BOOM. An eye caching performance, as the Terribles roamed starkly. Looking for valuables and a place to live, so watch out at night encase you get stolen. So keep your eyes peeled for a murky shadow out in the distance, it could be unexpected or could creeeeeeeeep yoooooouuuuuu ooooooouuuuuuuuut. So I knew that Hamish couldn’t just have fun. There had to be an encroaching danger; some kind of monster in the cupboard.

Hamish and the WorldStoppers (Paperback) - Waterstones

Hamish and the Neverpeople is the hilarious sequel to Danny Wallace’s earlier novel, Hamish and the WorldStoppers . It contains the familiar faces of the original characters and more! Original, quirky and super silly, Wallace has written a great book that kids - particularly boys - will really enjoy. One of our Books of the Year 2016 | February 2016 Book of the Month Hamish and the Worldstoppers was one of my favourite kids’ books of 2015, and the follow up is even better. The world is in danger again, or should that be still, and the monsters Hamish and his friends defeated in his first outing are small-town stuff compared to the Neverpeople threat he faces. The mayhem starts in 10 Downing Street, in some very funny scenes, and takes Hamish into an alternative world where everything, from the Statue of Libert-he to the Her-malayan mountains, is reversed. Quirky, original, clever, fast-paced and very funny indeed, this book will be another huge hit with young readers while Wallace’s narrative voice – both teasing and worldly-wise – makes it great for reading aloud. ~ Andrea Reece The RRP is the suggested or Recommended Retail Price of a product, set by the publisher or manufacturer. I love the character called Clover because she can dress up to look like anything or anyone.I would recommend this book to anyone who ,like me, like jokes. PDF / EPUB File Name: Hamish_and_the_Worldstoppers_-_Danny_Wallace.pdf, Hamish_and_the_Worldstoppers_-_Danny_Wallace.epub What a fun little book. I thoroughly enjoyed the newspaper clippings at the beginning and end of the story, they had me laughing out loud.

Like David Walliams, Wallace is a comedian turned children's author. Of the two, Wallace's writing is the funnier.

Hamish and the Worldstoppers (part 21)

The plot here is pretty fun, too. Basically, we have a little-ish kid called Hamish who’s noticed that time has randomly started to stop. Everyone else is basically frozen in the middle of whatever they’re doing, but Hamish is able to move around in the void. He later learns that he’s not alone – some other kids are able to do it as well, but so are some monsters that seem to want to replace everyone with meaner versions of themselves. Fiction. This was a fun book to read, and had lots of action scenes, but it wasn't one of the best books that I've read this summer.
