There is an enemies to lovers vibe in this story as Clover and Kit really do not like each other from the get go, and are determined to hate each other.

When tragedy strikes again, and Cory is found dead, Clover is determined to find answers for his grieving family and for herself. I was gifted this advance copy by Karen Swan, Pan Macmillan, and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review. I like the mills and boon style romance with contention and attraction between the two main characters.

All the feelings – I mean the whole hate-love trope is so agonizingly fun to read about – great plot with all subplots making sense and creating a believeable turnout. Clover needs to try to hide her loathing towards Kit to try and get to the truth of what happened with Cory.

I enjoyed this winter romance (be warned: it has more of a winter feel to it than Christmas) and the enemies-to-lovers trope was well written. Kit Foley seems to have been involved in a surfing accident that left champion Cory Allbright disabled and unable to take part in any further surfing championships, in fact depriving him totally of his livelihood. However, I would have liked a bit more time with Kit, as it's a bit silly how they could fall in love when they only spend about 1 night, a few hours on a mountain and 1 game of chess together.

I really thought Midnight in the Snow would be exactly that—light, not too emotionally/mentally taxing. Wanting to follow with an equally explosive documentary Clover decides to go after Kit Foley, Cory's nemesis and the cause of his accident. Ich fand Clover an sich sympathisch, aber sie blieb dennoch ein wenig distanziert und ich bin nicht so ganz mit ihr warm geworden. Everything felt like one big, metaphorical chess game—a literal one too (that scene was simultaneously the most/least literally sexy thing I've ever read).
