About this deal

Not keen on the modern ones. Was Coco and Big Hero 6 even that popular?? Same with Princess & the Frog, I haven't heard anyone mention that since it came out. Anastasia and Rasputin would have been a lot more interesting. Early on, Hall and a small team of filmmakers took a field trip to the Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University. The design for Baymax was inspired by an inflatable arm robot which scientist Christopher Atkeson showed to Don Hall. Baymax's facial design was inspired by the suzu bell, which are found in Japanese Shinto temples. For his exo-skeleton, visual development artist Kevin Nelson comments that they looked at Incan mummies and made his vertebrae, arms and lower legs deflatable so they would disappear when he was shrunk down, while all his other bones have ways of bending to fit his whole body into the traveling case. For his armor, the producers met with J Mays, the Global Design Chief for Ford at the time, who inspired them to simplify the armor with simpler shapes and cleaner lines influenced by auto design. [10] It’s anther classic Disney character brought to life as a minifigure, and to enhance the accuracy of Pinocchio’s most defining feature, his nose that grows when he lies, LEGO have done the unthinkable and given him an actual protruding nose!

Overall, it’s a really great and unique minifigure, and I can imagine that the double-arms will be a nice little addition for those that collect minifigures, and want to add a really interesting arm option into their collection. She comes with two accessories, Prince Naveen as a lime green frog, which is a brand new frog colour (great for frog collectors!), and a 2×3 printed tile featuring a poster for Tiana’s Place, the restaurant that plays a central role in Princess and the Frog in which Tiana and her mother transforms an old sugar mill into a vibrant, music-filled restaurant.LEGO have given Baymax some larger arms, which does make it look like he has a balloon-like silhouette, but his body is just a bit too narrow and flat for the full effect. The leader of the band of rogues is Robin Hood, who is a cunning red fox with incredible archery skills, and LEGO have made great use of a new moulded head to bring Robin Hood to life. His trademark green garb is printed really nicely across his body, and I also like his green shoes on his feet. Where possible, we used smooth white pieces to cover the exposed studs. It seemed to make Baymax look more like the movie. For accessories, Pinochhio comes with Cleo, Geppetto’s goldfish which is printed on a trans-clear minifigure head.

In the manga, Hiro also builds Baymax's red armor first while the simpler, green armor from the movie is seen in the prologue, indicating it was built later on and possibly for a different purpose. We wanted to make the arms jointed, and it definitely gives Baymax more personality than stationary arms. Whereas the previous Collectable Minifigure included only two arms, this version features four! These unusual arms were designed for Rio Durant in 75219 Imperial AT-Hauler, but are equally suited to Stitch. However, the character wields two yellow plasma blasters, instead of his normal armament of four. This accessory was introduced in 8683 Collectable Minifigures Series 1, but has not appeared in yellow before. LEGO has released a variety of Pixar sets, although certain films have been overlooked. Coco is a prime example, but has inspired two minifigures in this series, the first of whom is Ernesto de la Cruz. The famed musician is richly dressed in white, with intricate metallic silver patterns around the brim of his hat, continuing onto his torso, arms and legs.On the note with Cruella, I have to say it: I find it curious that the design of the puppy with her (Patch) is based on his appearance in the 2003 Direct-to-video sequel 101 Dalmatians II: Patch's London Adventure instead of how he looks in the original movie. While it’s not the most detailed minifigure, I appreciate the historical significance of Oswald to Disney’s history, so it makes for a really cool character to include in this series, as it would be very hard to find a home for otherwise. How to find one: Pocahontas’ large hairpiece has a very distinct shape, with the windswept part feeling flat, with ridges on one side. You can also feel for the three leaves which litter the bag. Despite knowing nothing about this movie, I was really looking forward to this Minifigure. The detailing on it is amazing. I’ve never seen a guitar with so much printing before. Additionally, changing out the skull for a regular minifig head gives you another member for your mariachi band if you’ve collected the past sombrero wearing Minifigures as well. Despite never seeing Coco, Ernesto is one of my favorite characters from the Disney 100 Minifigure Series because of his amazing detailing. Oswald the Rabbit Ernesto is in his skeleton form, and just looks absolutely brilliant, with some of the most insane printing and design in a minifigure that I’ve ever seen. The white base colour ensures that the lines are all sharp, and vivid, bringing to life his Day of the Dead skeletal form in stunning fashion.

The previous series of Disney Collectable Minifigures have certainly been enjoyable, but I think 71038 Disney 100 Collectable Minifigures surpasses them both! This selection of characters provides greater variety than before, while the individual minifigures are more advanced too. Many include dual-moulded pieces and nearly all are extremely accurate to their equivalents onscreen. Queen of Hearts 71038-7 has an odd expression, I hope it is dual-faced with a more angry expression, and although the heart-shaped scepter is fine, I'd have preferred her to come with a flamingo. Over time, Hiro recovers from the loss of Tadashi and Baymax, finding comfort in his family and friends. Hiro officially joins the SFIT as a student and after a tour from his friends, he goes inside Tadashi's old lab. There, he finds Baymax's blueprints drawn in a notebook. He then brings out the remaining memento of Baymax: his armor fist. Upon uncovering it, Hiro notices Baymax's healthcare chip within the palm of the robotic fist. Overjoyed, Hiro sets to rebuild Baymax's body, using the chip to restore his personality and memories, only to be interrupted by Professor Granville, who tells him he has to earn the lab first. Still, Hiro continues his work between and after classes, while the rest of his friends discuss about continuing their lives as superheroes. Finally, Hiro finishes the exo-skeleton and uploads Baymax's consciousness to a computer. Baymax however tells Hiro to test the body before since it took Tadashi many tries before it was fully functional. Hiro however was too confident in himself and turned the body on, but it then went haywire and ran away. The process of creating Baymax was arduous and difficult, but Tadashi's desire to use his potential to benefit humanity never tarnished, so he worked eagerly on Baymax day and night in hopes of inspiring his younger brother, Hiro, to use his genius as Tadashi did. It took 84 tests to perfect Baymax, and Tadashi recorded every one of them. To provide Baymax with his programming, medical knowledge and personality, Tadashi built a healthcare chip with the help of his healthcare-expert friend Lily. The chip is encoded with the inscriptions that make Baymax the health-oriented and lovable robot he truly is. It also prevents Baymax from harming humans willingly; without it, this usually unlimited rule is compromised. Robin Hood works remarkably well as a LEGO minifigure, and is such a classic Disney animated film with enduring appeal. It’s not hard to imagine how the overall aesthetic and design of the movie may have inspired LEGO’s own Forestmen theme, and you can also see how well Robin Hood fits into this world. The minifigure is incredible well-designed, with a double cape and collar combo, adding to her dramatic flair. Sense of heroism: Hiro created a new chip for Baymax similar to his fighting chip, but this one no longer risks him turning violent and allows him to defend innocents and other heroic deeds. If you’re a Disney fan, you are absolutely going to LOVE this series, and I think the Disney 100 series ranks incredibly highly amongst all the other licensed Minifigures Series that LEGO have given us, and especially appropriate to celebrate 100 years of Disney.
