About this deal

Designed to be used daily, these Japanese-made cotton pads are extremely absorbent and supremely smooth, making them notably gentle on the skin (and a great choice for all skin types). FYI, they are meant to be used with skincare, in particular, and since they are a bit on the pricier side, you may want to reserve them for use on your face rather than for things such as nail polish removal. MUJI is such a unique concept. I’ve started to really like their CLOTHES too. Such good quality and all classic styles. Also, don’t forget the FOOD – I just bought another 2 bags of those marshmallows with the gummy bits inside!

Shiseido Beauty Up Cotton Pads, 55x70mm, 108 Cottons, Made in

I’ve never used facial cotton before (just cotton rounds) – you’re making me believe that I’m missing out on something big here. No Muji here though so I guess I’ll be splurging on the Shiseido ones…Listen, soft, delicate cotton rounds are great for your face. But when it comes to removing nail polish? You're going to want a durable pad that holds up. Enter: The Graham Hands Down Ultra Nail and Cosmetic Pads. Your nail polish doesn't stand a chance against these bbs. MUJI pens are pretty great. I have a bunch – not only do they work well but they look so sleek too. I’ve recently started to get into their clothing and food… I’ll soon just been head to toe MUJI! 😛 I was searching for a review of the Ecru vs Shisedo & found your amazing in-depth review – huge props for the photos – I am also a facial cotton aficionado & deeply appreciate your work! 👏

Great review! I bought a whole bunch when I was in Japan, so when I saw your post I felt like I got my money’s worth 🙂

Benefits

I fell into the Shiseido cotton trap because they gave me a small box in a gwp. Of course I fell in love with them… it’s been a long addiction but now I have an alternative! 😉 If you're after cotton pads with sealed-off ends, DHC's Silky Cotton might be the more durable choice. Though less soft than the first three products on this list, you'll be able to take off nail polish with them more effectively. Fans love how strong they are, and they never fall apart or leave any traces of lint behind on their skin Ooh! There is a MUJI store that opened not too long ago near me..I’m definitely going to have to try this! I’ve never used the Shiseido ones but I have heard people rave about them. Awesome post!

Reviewed: Shiseido Facial Cotton, the Best Cotton Pads Ever

Rest a cotton pad over each lid and hold it in place for a few seconds. Then gently wipe downward and off skin. When I was scrutinizing the two cottons side by side, I’d say that the Shiseido is ever so slightly softer. But it’s not apparent while I was using them on even the delicate eye area. Honestly – saving 68% allows me to ignore this tiny, almost undetectable discrepancy. These hypoallergenic, anti-bacterial, and anti-microbial cotton rounds are the ultimate reusable cosmetic pads on the market. Not only are they great for removing makeup, but thanks to the soft terry texture, they also have great exfoliating purposes as well. Oh, and they come with an adorable pink carrying case. Then I did a blind test. I placed both Shiseido and MUJI in my cotton dispenser, randomly alternating them. And I could not tell the difference! 😮 As with the Shiseido, MUJI instructs that you can peel the cotton apart and use them as spot “mask” treatments when soaked with toner / essence. Today, I’m comparing two facial cotton pads: Shiseido’s cult fave vs. Quo Luxury Facial Cotton Pads (the dupe). Quo is the brand by Shoppers Drug Mart in Canada. It’s a shame because I have heard great things. This is irrelevant but I love their pens (I bought a few from the store in Hong Kong, haha.) Even though shiseido looks expensive but from the picture, it looks like the quality of muji products looks very much price worthy K-beauty brand White Rabbit has a mission to elevate beauty products that are essential but usually ignored, and that's where these cotton pads come in. Made with 100 percent cotton, these bbs won't leave behind lint or other fibers on your skin. I hope MUJI continues to expand their Canadian footprint – right now they only seem to focus on Toronto and surrounding areas. I think it’d make sense to expand to other major Canadian cities. C’mon, MUJI!

It's all about how you use them. Used gently for purposes, such as removing makeup, you shouldn't have any issue. However, you'll want to avoid using any product or material in a rough manner around your delicate eye area since that can contribute to wrinkles.

How to use

These square pads are made from 100 percent organic cotton, which also happens to be GOTS certified by Ecocert (this means you can feel confident knowing no hazardous chemicals are being used during the production and processing of the fiber). They’re soft and lint-free and surprisingly dense, the ideal choice for applying skincare or removing makeup. In did notice on my last Muji visit that the cut cotton looked similar to Shiseido. Thanks for reviewing it! Will have to get my hands on it soon (I’m running out of my usual Daiso cotton). Oh wow that sounds seriously good. Unfortunately there is no Muji around here. *fingers crossed I get to go on that work trip*
