After the weathering period, it is generally recommended to clean the surface from the extractive content. Osmo Wood Reviver Power-Gel can be used to refresh the colour of the wood. If necessary and before application, de-grease the dried surface with Osmo Brush Cleaner and Thinner (degreaser), always trial apply! As with most DIY wood projects, there are a couple of things to keep in mind in terms of suitability, but anti slip, for the most part, is within anyone's reach.

Recommended application: for best results apply to timber with a sawn textured face or sand surface using an orbital sander and 80 grit sandpaper. Untreated wood in its original form has a light, pale character from its natural ‘raw’ appearance. Sanded wood also has the same effect. Osmo Polyx®-Oil 3044 Raw is designed to retain this appearance by using a small amount of white pigments to neutralise the permanent ‘wet-look’ that develops after application of a clear finish. Free sachet delivery is available on all Rust-Oleum sachets. These are shipped direct from the manufacturer using Whistl. Can take 5-10 working days. Pressure-impregnated wood, Massaranduba, Bangkirai, or Garapa need to weather off for at least 3 months.Containing a high quantity of pigments and oils, Osmo wood finishes leave a stunning surface finish after just one or two coats, without the need for a primer or base coat. Osmo Bangkirai Oil provides a very simple surface to clean. Simply use a moist cloth. Particularly difficult stains can be removed with Osmo Liquid Wax Cleaner. For the following wood types, a weathering period is recommended. Depending on wood species, new or freshly sanded wood requires up to 12 weeks (approximate) exposure to the exterior elements before application. Always start out by testing an inconspicuous area to ensure you’re happy with the result and that the wood and product are a good match. Bangkirai: 12 weeks exposure. 006 Bangkirai is optically suitable and a very popular choice of colour tone.

Coverage will vary depending on the type of wood, age and surface texture. Application & Maintenance AdviceIf possible, apply an initial coat to all sides of the wood before installation when protecting new wood. Wood species with a high content of natural wood extractives need to weather off before the initial treatment or be cleaned with Osmo Brush Cleaner and Thinner. Ipe: 6-8 weeks exposure. 006 Bangkirai is optically suitable and a very popular choice of colour tone. Thoroughly clean or lightly sand old microporous stains or completely remove old varnishes before application. If any sanding works are carried out some fresh wood species must be weathered as directed above to improve absorbency once more. Sanding to finishing grades of no more than a P120 grit are recommended. Always wear a dust mask when sanding.
