About this deal

Broken men break women. It’s what Lucian believes, what he’s witnessed, and he’s not going to take that chance with Sloane. with dnf-ing the second book it was hard to follow the suspense portion of the plot-line, which not gonna lie bored me to death. Lucian Rollins is a lean, mean vengeance-seeking mogul. On a quest to erase his father’s mark on the family name, he spends every waking minute pulling strings and building an indestructible empire. The more money and power he amasses, the safer he is from threats.

the 🤣. A TENS machine? Bahahaha 🤭 the way Sloane and Lucian continued to make digs on each other and had the machined leveled up, because the pain was worth it, had me dying 🤣. Not Lucian feeling like he can be at Sloane’s level of pain 🤡. When they all hang up on Knox with snow was 🤌🏻. Sigh. So many other times I was laughing Suffice it to say that this is easily the best Lucy Score book I’ve read. In my review of Things We Hide From The Light I complained at length about why I hadn’t found a truly 5 star read by LS. Of course the next one of her books I read turns out to be just what I was looking for. I’m just so happy and emotional and in love with this love story. I no longer give a damn about Knox or Nash. Give me Lucian Rollins or no one at all. sloane walton is a feisty blonde librarian that is actively getting involved in a social justice case. after library hours, she is giving interviews to try to help reduce an extremely drastic sentence on a wrongful conviction and trying to find a husband. she’s going on dates trying to find the one but it would be a lot easier without her archnemesis living next door.If you didn’t love Sloane and Lucian already in the previous books, you will most definitely fall in love with them now!!

I loved seeing all the other characters from the previous books and the found family connection that they all have. I thought the past pov’s were done well, few and moved the plot well. We find out why Lucian and Sloane ‘hate’ each other and it was understandable. The smut in this was good I was eating up the I hate you but I love sleeping with you sexy time up. There’s also a mystery/suspense plot that maybe wasn’t necessary but was a vibe nonetheless. My only minor issue is that this book is very long but I still ate it up. Sloane Walton is a spitfire determined to carry on her father’s quest for justice. She’ll do that just as soon as she figures out exactly what the man she hates did to—or for—her family. Bonded by an old, dark secret from the past and the dislike they now share for each other, Sloane trusts Lucian about as far as she can throw his designer-suited body. The found family-My favorite part of this series! Everyone is there, although I wanted more Waylay bc my girl is just the best, but we got more of Stef and Jeremiah which made my heart so happy bc I love them so much. And we got some new characters but most importantly we got all the CLOSURE with everyone's story that really wrapped up this series so perfectly. I'm actually kind of sad bc this is it for these characters and I am going to miss them and this sweet little town so much!

He’d rather live a life of solitude than put her in danger. But he learns the hard way that leaving her means leaving her unprotected from other threats. It was strange, having a secret with the boy I’d once loved and now sharing it with the man I couldn’t stand" This was one of my most anticipated reads of the year and to say it was a disappointment is taking it lightly. i wish lucian and sloane had more romance and less hurtling insults once they started seeing each other. i would have liked it more if they didn’t go the one-night-stand trope turned more. it’s more about respect for me, as we know sloane is a romantic at heart. it just didn’t work for me. I adored this series, I adored getting to know and love these characters, making room in my heart for each of them. And I hope beyond anything that this author gives us another series to sink our teeth into.

Sloane Walton is a spitfire determined to carry on her father’s quest for justice. She’ll do that just as soon as she figures out exactly what the man she hates did to—or for—her family. This book really tugged at my heartstrings wayyyy more than I expected. My goodness I’m still emotional just thinking about it. Simon 🥺. THE EPILOGUE >>>> the amazing group of friends 😭🫶 The author’s writing style is engaging and evocative, immersing readers in the small-town setting and allowing them to experience the characters’ emotions firsthand. The dialogue is sharp and filled with tension, creating an authentic portrayal of the characters’ complex relationship. Score expertly balances steamy romance with heartfelt moments, giving the story depth and substance. My review is going to be biased because I’ve loved this entire series since I first started it over a year and a half ago.the book had a great start. I even said that in early updates of my reading, first 15-20% of this book were good, but then it went downhill. If it weren't for that atrocious smut Lucy Score is famous for, I would've thought she had been abducted and her abductor finished the book. P.S. This book made me laugh out loud WAY too many times, and my coworkers stared at me so much today while I finished it. So too with the hero (Lucian) - he wasn't as cutthr0at as what I'd imagined and *sigh* that was a total letdown. Let’s start off with the tropes that this book delivered. To say that it ATE is an understatement. It was the perfect combination!!! I mean… childhood friends to enemies to lovers, enemies with benefits AND forbidden love?!?! I’m on my goddamn KNEES!!!!!

Bonded by an old, dark secret from the past and the dislike they now share for each other, Sloane trusts Lucian about as far as she can throw his designer-suited body. THE HIGHLY ANTICIPATED FOLLOW-UP TO TIKTOK SENSATION THINGS WE NEVER GOT OVER AND 2023'S THINGS WE HIDE FROM THE LIGHT Bound by a shared past and the growing attraction they can’t ignore, Lucian and Sloane struggle to find common ground. Lucian’s protective instincts clash with his fear of endangering Sloane, leading him to make the difficult decision to cut her out of his life—twice. However, his choices come at a great cost as Sloane is left vulnerable to new threats. You’re a nine.” Sloane punched the air in victory. “Yes!” Naomi was watching us again. I held up a taco and gave her a friendly nod. “Take me to a ten,” I told Waylay when Naomi looked away. Was. 😭 during this scene. It isn’t until you lose someone close that you realize how important every day, every hour, every minute is 😭. Which is why, I think, I was able to overlook some grievances I had against Lucian (😑) It was clear from the moment we saw an interaction between Sloane and Lucian that there was something there. A title like Things We Left Behind implies much more than just something. THE EXTENDED EPILOGUE 😭. Lucy Score, please talk to many of those authors that don’t give us this 😭. Not only do we see Lucian and Sloane’s HEA ten years later, but we see all the other couples and even Lucian and Sloane’s moms having their HEA 🥹🫶. It was the best ❤️ Admittedly it was drawn out, less in some cases is best, it was a bit messy in others, but it still didn't take away my love for this book/this series.
