About this deal

The Drop is designed less as an ‘effect’ but more as a tool for guitarists in the studio and on stage to drop the pitch of the guitar for certain songs in the set, down from E standard to A standard (which is pretty low!), without having to touch a tuning peg! It also features a momentary mode so that the pitch can be dropped momentarily to make for some interesting effects.

The Bass Whammy is a Whammy pedal built for bass guitar. Originally released alongside the Whammy II, it was built in the same chassis but in a deep blue color. It also featured a different set of shift and harmony options, more appropriate for use with a bass instrument. I must admit, this pedal does take a little time to get used to. Despite it only having two rotary controls and two switches, the range of pitch-shifting effects you can achieve by adjusting these is quite incredible.Alternate between downstrokes and upstrokes. Use the Whammy Pedal on downstrokes only. Accent your beats and downstrokes with the Pedal. As I was saying earlier, there are many differences between the older generation Whammy pedals and the newer ones. And when you compare one of the original models to the Whammy Pedal DT, the differences become even more striking.

The controls are similar to the controls on the previous model, but one additional knob and two additional footswitches, one of which is momentary, have been added for the new "Drop Tune" section of the pedal. Let’s start with an easy exercise to get used to smoothly bending the pitch of a note using the Whammy. This is how a lot of guitarists use the Whammy and while there are many other ways you can use it, it’s a lot of fun and can sound great. We will be using the Whammy pedal to bend a note up an entire octave when we push down on the pedal. You can hear this used in countless songs. It’s simple and it will get you used to control the pedal. Every manufacturer's pitch shifting technology has a different character and different artifacts that make up its tone or timbre. The Whammy sounds like a warble, the Boss sounds like the envelope of a flute, and the EHX sounds a bit like a bitcrush, with a clinical edge. Or that's what we think, anyway. Pitch-shifting effects are best placed after the distortion unit unless they are special effects like a Whammy pedal. Dan Kern (May 19, 2015). "MIDI Madness: Interview with Molten Voltage". Six String Soul . Retrieved August 27, 2016.Setting the Whammy: you will need to set your Whammy to the 1 Octave up option. Just like the exercise above, make sure you use the ‘Whammy’ mode and not ‘Harmony’. This setting will bend your note up one octave when you push the pedal down. Putting the Whammy Pedal in the FX loop would put it between the pre-amplifier and power amplifier. Although pitch shifter pedals share many similarities with octave and harmonizer pedals, it’s important to understand the differences between the three. The same goes for the equalizer and wah pedal, both of which can perform different tasks depending on their placement.
