About this deal

I love Ambers flat mates and friends Tom and Jess they are exactly the kind of friends a girl needs in her life as they are there for her throughout and they all have lots of fun and happy times together. Amber Raey dreams of designer her own line, but that isn't going to happen in her current job. Working as a an assistant to one of the country's top designers, Amber is more likely to be dog-sitting than designing. But when Amber is approached by the head of a major fashion house, it seems all her dreams are about to come true, especially when she meets an American heartthrob who propels her into his life of glamour. I really did enjoy reading this book and feel that readers will Definetly be able to relate to the characters and story. Lizzie is the one who is unable to hold down a job or boyfriend and is just floating through life with no real responsibilities.

My Final Verdict: Readers who like a happily ever after without any cliffhangers should grab this book. Additionally, readers who like romantic comedies or books that feature characters the reader immediately feels a bond with will enjoy this and, like me, wish they were part of the Ashworth family. I will be on the lookout for more of this author’s work and am hoping I will get to spend time with these characters again. Her sister Lizzie however, is twenty three and out getting drunk most nights whilst being poor and struggling to get by as well as waking up in random bars. Meanwhile Lizzie -slapdash, fun-loving, loyal, wild, yet insecure- who is without a job, a flat or a boyfriend, feels left out in the cold. Then Amber meet someone an American heartthrob who shows her the glittering sights of an ilustrious career can bring. The story is easy to follow and is split into four distinct parts, as the timeline of the progresses there really are four separate stages to Amber's journey.

This is an easy to read book that seemed quite inconsistent in places. There is a storyline all to do with Amber's family that should be more emotional than it comes across, but yet elsewhere its all shine and little depth. Possibly this would suit someone younger than my age group who is more in to all things celeb. The way it is written suggests a younger readership and I suspect I was not really in the right decade to suit the style of the book. But it was a fun read nevertheless and I would recommend it to someone a bit younger. What really did surprise is that for a book featuring an aspiring fashion designer, and some models, there was very little details of what designs Amber is working on, so by the time there are fashion shows roll around, its hard to feel empathy with Amber's neves, as I really couldn't picture anything that was going to be featured on the catwalks. We watch her get ready for a night out with her girlfriends in Newcastle. She says she is much more contained than she was during her Geordie Shore years, and is looking forward to it (hell, we’re all looking forward to it – I haven’t been out or young for years), but – “I’m already sweating behind my knees thinking how poorly I’m going to be tomorrow.” Those slippery definitions, lubricated with the perspiration of hangovers and regret. Three or four drinks,” her voiceover tells us over scenes of her downing about that number of limoncello shots as the night starts, “and I’m sociable, fun and I can function the next day. Any more and I don’t know when to stop. I’d go so far as to say I can’t stop.” As driven and ambitious as she is, she notes, it’s the one thing she can’t seem to control.

The story was very basic but was very interesting and entertaining to read. The premise is that Issy becomes part of 'Can You Cut It?' and the whole book is her time on the show and in the contestants shared apartment. I loved reading all of this as it reminded me so much of Big Brother, a show I absolutely love! Relating the early years of their marriage before her ex-husband’s slide into alcoholism, Pattison’s mum Carroll explained, “We used to go out on a Friday and Saturday night and get drunk, but everybody did.” When does regularly overdoing it turn into a full-blown addiction? The Pattisons offered a generous glimpse into a struggle that spans generations and acres of moral grey.Issy Jones is clearly a very likeable but ambitious young girl. Having given up her place at a London Hair Academy to be with her family after a family illness, she is just plodding along in her mum’s Manchester hair salon doing blue rinses. However her family think she now deserves more and without her knowledge put her forward for a new reality TV show – ‘Can You Cut It?’ – (think ‘Big Brother’ in a hairdressing environment) with the ‘Confession Cam’ substituted for the Big Brother Diary Room. The rest of the story is about Issy’s time on that show and how the seduction of fame can change even the most grounded person into someone that family and friends do not recognise. It also shows that you shouldn't believe everything you read in the papers!
