Major John Dolphin, himself a scientist, was appointed to command the work that was carried out there. Station IX specialized in developing a whole range of 007-like inventions, many of which were designed by the highly regarded Major Hugh Reeves. Most were named using the first three letters of the Station’s location – i.e., Wel – and included both weapons and specialized forms of transport suitable for agents operating behind enemy lines.
