About this deal

Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble is like a broken tooth, and a foot out of joint. Without revealing too much I don't know if I would have forgiven Piper, I don't think Marcus knew her long enough to fall in love with her in a way that justifies his struggle about whether or not he should hate her. Where there is true faith in action, Christians will be the most faithful and loyal of employees. Throughout his epistles, the Apostle Paul is always encouraging servants with these same words (Eph. 6:5–6, Col. 3:23–25, 1 Tim. 6:1–2). Joseph is the archetypal faithful man in Potiphar’s household as well as in the prison. Some may accuse us of being sycophants (or “brown-nosing”), but working with diligence and grace, doing everything with all our heart as unto the Lord, is never wrong. To resort to dishonest flattery or to submit to an employer who would have us break a contract with a customer or undermine our integrity in similar ways is definitively wrong. Yet a man who is out for his employer’s success will find ways to advance the cause of the business without breaking God’s law and thereby bringing God’s curse upon the company. Family Discussion Questions: I didn’t love the story within the story, but I understand that it was necessary, and helpful for the context of the plot. But for the longest time it felt like filler, therefore annoyed me more than anything… even after it was revealed to be important to the plot. A bad man will by no means attend to counsel; neither will he say anything seasonable, or good for the common weal.

Others render, at its (proper) times, i.e. seasonably, perhaps from the idea of times or seasons “revolving,” or “rolling round.” In tempore suo, Vulg. Comp. Proverbs 15:23. Structurally, some of the chapter divisions are put in awkward places and messed with the flow of the story. Annoying, but not a deal breaker. The word fitly spoken comes from the right heart motivation, a heart consumed by love and faith. It is a word that meets the need of the day. It is a word that is carefully adjusted to the right force, the right emotion, and the right content. An adjective is selected for its appropriateness, and the verb is taken for its gentle persuasion. All of it must reflect the truth. No slander or pandering is allowed. At times, it could be a word of correction that directs itself to a particular sin that entangles a brother (verse 12). Commentaries tell us the “apples of gold” this verse mentions are not 24 karat apples, they’re real, edible apples, golden in color. And these lovely apples are presented in a “setting of silver,” a silver filigreed lattice-work basket – much like what you see in our A Word Fitly Spoken title graphic. This silver basket full of golden apples was ornamental, maybe even used as a centerpiece on a dining table. It seems people have been decorating with baskets of fruit even from the time of Solomon! I am so stinking glad I discovered this series! The love I have for it is crazy. Like obsessed! The first book was ridiculously good, Kiran and Asha are one of my all time favorite enemies to more. And the world the author has created is full of terrific characters and amazing storylines. There is so much potential, so much yet to explore, so much to dissect, so much to savor! We want to leave you with the admonition to live a godly life, growing in Christ and representing Him well to the church and to the world. Michelle Lesley Note: On this proceeds also the beautiful interpretation by Maimuni in the preface to More Nebuchim: Maskiyyth sont des ciselures rticulaires, etc., according to Munk's translation from the Arab. text, vid., Kohut's Pers. Pentateuch-Uebers. (1871), p. 356. Accordingly Jewish interpreters (e.g., Elia Wilna) understand under אפניו the four kinds of writing: פשׁט, רמז, דרושׁ, and סוד, which are comprehended under the memorial word פרדס.) The Romantic tension is THROUGH THE ROOF. My only *critique* is that I wish there would've been a few more moments where that was relieved... it just built and built...and built. 😅 But there was a couple moments that had me cheering for the MMC and his boldness 🔥 Really good! I enjoyed the story and it had a couple of good twists and surprises. I really liked the first book as well, but the story could have benefitted from a little more editing. The author's writing has definitely improved in this book and I am excited to continue with the series and keep reading her work! As the cold of snow in the time of harvest, so is a faithful messenger to them that send him: for he refresheth the soul of his masters.

The word translated as “fitly” in Proverbs 25:11 occurs only here in the Old Testament, making its exact meaning somewhat unsure. Some translators link it to an Arabic word meaning “time.” If this is accurate, a word fitly spoken seems to imply “a word spoken at the right time” (CSB) or “at the proper time” (NASB). The New Living Translation agrees with this meaning: “Timely advice is lovely, like golden apples in a silver basket.” The New English Bible also aligns with this idea, describing the word spoken “fitly” as being “in season.”

Family Discussion Questions:

The 🌶️ factor is definitely a 0 in this book. I would put this in the category of YA rather than NA. But aside from that it’s a unique storyline with strong main and supporting characters. Amity pretty much saves the day. This book was going to be rated by me around the 3.5 star mark, until I reached the ending. I thought for sure it was a stand-alone, and never saw the connection that was revealed at the end coming. The problem is, Asha might not be a beauty, but her sister Dinah is. When Asha realizes Dinah is in danger of being selected as the king’s sacrificial bride, Asha decides she can’t live with that risk. So she offers herself instead. As for the storytelling within the story - meh. I eventually started skipping those chapters because I found them boring. The imagery of the proverb accords with the growth of art and luxury in the reign of Solomon, though the Hebrews were familiar from the days of Egypt ( Exodus 3:22), and earlier ( Genesis 24:22), with ornaments of gold and silver.
