There is a limit to the weight that the fibreglass rods can withstand and the product really should not be used in snow. It is certainly not designed to withstand heavy snowfall. In our tests, it was seen to withstand up to the equivalent of 32 kg of freshly fallen snow. If you do use it in the snow then you must clear the snow off regularly to prevent snow build-up. Damage caused to the product as a result of use in snow will not be covered by warranty. The Bike Cave has been keeping its contents nice and dry – result! The last few weeks have seen some serious coverings of snow in our area, with many roads impassable, and with the thaw taking hold numerous houses having lost their guttering due to the weight of snow dropping down from rooftops. Put everyone’s dirty clothes in a large laundry bag or box and, if you’ve got room, keep it in the car. The front and rear sections have a zip running all the way round, so you can unzip as much or as little as you need. When we designed the BikeCave, we set ourselves the target of establishing the concept of a purpose-designed “ home for your bike“. We wanted to invent a bike storage solution that was I’m a big fan of bike caves and this is my third one. They stand up really well to high winds and it’s nice and easy to get the bikes in and out. Plus they fit neatly against the fence in my small garden and aren’t intrusive. However I’ve left off a star because I’m slightly disappointed by the hood. I paid extra for the hooded model (there are cheaper versions on the market) as I thought it would last a lot longer but in reality the actual hood didn’t last very long at all and had a big hole in the top within a few months. I know it is made to be replaceable but didn’t think I’d have to do it quite that often!I bought a Tidy Tent in the summer, in which I keep my BBQ and Lawn mover.I have found that is great, and also very strong when there is strong winds and also there is no leaks when it rains.I would recommend it. Made from a tough, hardwearing, and durable PE polyethylene fabric, the design includes a protective flap over the zips to limit water ingress.
