It creates a contrast with the RED’s sub-bass boost which, while substantial, is truly a sub-bass boost. These shells are translucent black in color and form the cavity for the driver assembly to slot into with the rest added akin to a sandwich with the face plate glue-dropped onto for capping. Doing so is simple as you just push the pins on the cable into the receptacle on the IEMs, and the recessed connectors in the shells helps further by avoiding any unnecessary extension on the cables too.

In fact, the unit I received also came with an acrylic replica of the pictured character, named “Virgo”. If you look closely, the resin is slightly transparent and you can see the driver configuration inside. However, I have had a couple moments with the DZ4 of my brother's, and let me tell you, does that completely stomp on the Zero in most qualities. For the majority of listeners who are less tolerant with treble, the RED’s level of control is hard to find in most other IEMs, let alone among the budget range.

The opaque sheath also makes it look cheap unfortunately, and then we get to two straight housings that host 0.

String plucks don’t sound as sharp as they could, and you have to focus to hear small nuances in the singer’s voice. The line out on the DAP is subject to primary stresses in the solder joints of the sockets, and these lead to microcracks. The first time I tried on I was let down, the treble is lower compared to the KZ10S Pro but after a couple days of listening to music with it I'm starting to grow into it, I started to notice a lot of the instruments part of the songs which I never noticed before. Truthear is a relatively new brand, but they chose to collaborate with Crinacle for their very first mainstream offering.The Crinacle tuning is obvious, I have no need for any EQ using UAPP from either my LG V3o, V50 or Galaxy S23 with a Hidizs Martha dongle. In the end, the driver configuration is the most interesting aspect of the Truthear Zero, and there is nothing wrong with that. There’s little space for treble notes to breathe, for the hats and cymbals to shimmer and shine past the crisp initial attack. Coherency is excellent and instrument separation is clearly defined though there isn’t too much space when it comes to layering due to the smaller stage. They have superior male vocals in comparison but female vocals are noticeably more laid back than the Truthear Zero. If the music you’re listening to doesn’t have too much information in the lowest octaves (as with a lot of purely acoustic tracks), its impact won’t be heard too much.The RED also come with a 10-ohm impedance adapter that can boost the bass, a feature that the original ZERO lacks. However, at the back, where the hook ends, it can tickle the bottom of your ears, which gets a bit frustrating. Seen above are each of the included size M silicone and foam ear tips installed on the Truthear x Crinacle ZERO. While you'll hear footsteps and other audio cues coming from the left or right, it can be tricky to locate them more precisely.
