And I like that eventually Miu and Ayako had a conversation, or well ish, about it. Miu is just hoping that her mom gets someone, hoping that she finds happiness. She is happy her mom of course put aside some years for her, but now that she is 15, almost an adult, she just wants for her mom to be happy. I found that so sweet. Miu seems a bit stand-offish at times so this moment and some others made me smile. We follow thirty-something single Ayako Katsuragi who’s been raising her teenage niece Miu as her own daughter after she became on orphan as a child. The two couldn’t been that different as Ayako is sweet, bubbly and beautifully busty and Miu is serious, teasing and occasionally expressionless. They also share a friendship with college age tutor Takumi since he was a child. However, an evening of drinking changes everything when Takumi confesses his romantic feelings to Ayako . Flattered at first, she worries that being a couple with a big age gap would be uncomfortable and attempts to make him understand that. The author is also very self aware of light novel characters and romcom tropes/cliches, and every so often references them, makes fun of them, or more often, gives them a logical twist or explanation. Breaking the Fourth Wall: In a scene early in the manga, Miu wants to have some wine, which Ayako vehemently objects to...since you can't show underage characters drinking in manga.

And while the drama can sometimes be a bit hard to swallow, it still is leagues above 99% of all other novels and easier to believe. I don't mind the age gap. There are many great stories with the age gap trope. I did like how Ayako was trying to deter Takumi and how they bonded over anime. Her reactions are logical and felt realistic for the situation. I do hope there are more mother/daughter moments between Miu and Ayako, and more development between Takumi and his friend. Those scenes were great additions and hopefully they'll be expanded on.Guns Heart - Doshi-sama Series - Yura Yura to Yureru Umi no Kanata - Leviathan - Little Birds Fly - Kirin wa Ichizu ni Koi wo Suru - Plot Director - Shio no Machi: Wish on my Precious - Our Home's Fox Deity - Senpai to Boku - Tonosama Kibun de HAPPY! - Umibe no Usagi - Kikaiji Kake no Jakitsukai - Rinne Nomukou - Misouwakusei - A Certain Magical Index - Durarara!! - Shupul no Hanashi - Kekkaishi no Fugue - Skyward - Tetora - Vamp! - Touto Genmatsuroku - Shadow Taker - Apraxas no Yume - Rune Blader! - Robot Imouto: Aratame Jinrui Kai Kyoudai - David no Shinzou - Strange Logic - Over the Horizon - Omoi wa Itsumo Senkou Hanabi - Tensou no Shita no Basilace - Kare to Kanajo to Soukan Mahou - Alice - Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu - Hitokui - TAKE FIVE - Dengeki!! Can't Hold Her Liquor: Ayako tries to convince Takkun she can't be with him because she drinks all the time, but he knows she almost never drinks, and thus doesn't know her limits.Hartman Hips: Has quite a endowed butt to go with her colossal chest. Give her a smaller waist and she would have an Impossible Hour Glass Figure.
Ayako herself is a good character - she selflessly gave up her twenties to raise her niece, Miu, as her own and got Takumi along in the bargain. He’s been nursing a crush on Ayako all this time and now they he’s actually of legal age (the very notion!) he is poised to make his move. Hollywood Pudgy: Ayako invokes this in one of her attempts to dissuade Takkun, showing him how "flabby" she's gotten since she was younger (read: her belly is just a tiny bit softer than it used to be). Like all her Please Dump Me attempts, it doesn't work. She and Takumi don’t seem like much of a match, until it becomes apparent that Takumi has shaped a lot of his life based on her advice. They finally get some actual chemistry towards the end when they nerd out over anime, which is the story at its most charming (though you had best believe the breasts are flying in that story too). see me?” Etc etc, which is something that usagi drop completely ignores (which earns it its notorious reputation). Things get turned on their head when said young man professes love to her not to her nephew/foster-daughter. And here is where all of the problems start - her view of too great age difference and insecurities when it comes to her own looks (and since this is manga, heh, lets say she has nothing to worry about, but for the story sake she does). I was pretty off put by the fact that he has liked her since he was 10… and that this love at first sight happened because they bathed together. It was a totally innocent bath. Takumi was cold and soaked to the bone by the rain and Ayako, who has a kid, didn’t think too much of it to just also dive into the bath as she was also cold. But apparently how Ayako looked and what she said stayed with him and he fell in love. Yep. I was happy that Ayako was pretty put off about that as well. Like, WHAT? NO ><.
