I take his face in my hands and kiss the tip of his nose as he exhales, his shoulders falling away from his ears. He won’t tell me his last name, and maybe that should throw up a thousand red flags, but when I’m all alone in a new city and struggling to make ends meet, his texts are the lifeline I’ve been desperate for. The way he goes through some major growth and realizations throughout the story – is so beautifully written. Your blood results from the other day came back showing your hCG levels at over one hundred thousand, so you are most definitely pregnant. I wanted to keep reading, finding excuses to do it and staying up too late – “just a few more pages” before closing my reader.Rose: Regarding the Miranda Keneally books, I don’t think of YA novels as romances, even when the romance is what the plot centers on. I'd never regret the pain, the suffering, or the heartache because they ultimately led me to the place I am in now. The intimidating length is actually perfect in this instance, because this hero is working so hard to prove himself, persisting through stumbles and obstacles along the way.

The drama was a lot and it was mostly OW drama—which I hate—and I didn’t really see the point of it. The only exceptions to this are when he’s on ice, or when his back is against the wall, when he feels threatened, or when he feels that someone he loves has been threatened. For the first time in my life, I'm living for myself - not for my parents and their ridiculous expectations.

I don’t normally read books like this but I decided why not and I definitely recommend this book for anyone. They'd been best friends ever since he pushed her down on the playground and she made him eat a mud pie. I loved this playboy tamed romance so much that I happily ate up a 20+ hour audiobook by a new-to-me author and wanted more at the end. The first part of the book is him chasing her, her rebuffing him, them being thrown together by friends who, for reasons, suddenly think it’s a great idea they get together and him realising just who she is to him.

He’s had everything served to him on a silver platter, including endless strings of women, and apparently, I’m up next. After a failed relationship and a string of dates gone wrong, the thought of being vulnerable with someone is terrifying—most women only see his fame. Now there's a new man in my life, one who isn't afraid to go after what he wants, and what he wants.I’d also add that being a high profile sport but not as popular as other major sports may make it easier to fictionalize – readers might not be as familiar with it, so there’s more room for creative license without choosing a more niche sport that doesn’t appeal to as many readers. chapters could have been easily 40 chapters and the big climax of a problem was solved in 2 chapters which didn't fit the complexity of this novel. Eliza: I have a hard time thinking about reading Tamsen Parker books since she wrote about Orthodox Jewish characters experimenting with BDSM, which is terrible representation IMO. I do want to note that while MLB doesn’t have many Black players, around 30% are from Latin America, which is a far greater proportion than what you’ll find in the NFL/NBA/NHL and possibly more than MLS has, too.

Eliza: I agree that Canadian readers will likely have a different response to hockey romances than American readers because of the prevalence of hockey in the Canadian sports world. I’d never heard of either narrator before starting, but they both give great performances in this dual narration audiobook. I love a hero who is gone for all money right from the start and has to prove himself to his chosen partner and do some chasing – especially if that’s a new thing for him. My contract is up at the end of the season, and with playoffs starting, I have to be on my best behavior.Becka enjoys writing swoon-worthy romance with lovable and relatable characters, loads of humor, and a healthy dose of drama on the way to a happily ever after. When my kids were little, the questions I got from other parents were, Are you putting your son in hockey?
