About this deal

The Philip Trevelyan Retrospective will span a career starting at the Royal College of Art in 1961 wherehe made his award-winning LAMBING, showing the isolation and dedication of an old Yorkshire sheep farmeras he tendshis ewesduring the lambing season. Trevelyan unobtrusively observes an intimate portrait of the man and his craft with respect and admiration, setting a pace that slowly immersesyou into his world. Trevelyan Rare Double Bill Sam Ainsley, who will be hosting the conversation, is a British artist and teacher, living and working in Glasgow, and was the founder and former head of the Master of Fine Art (MFA) programme at the Glasgow School of Art.

Notwithstanding the family members’ less than perfect articulation and the logical flaws of their arguments, theirs is a life lived philosophically. Taking into account the very specific parameters of Trevelyan’s project, what we get is finally of considerably more significance than what we don’t.
