Those buying a machine for its performance should accept from the outset that this platform isn’t for you. This isn’t a cheap NUC solution, but it does offer the potential for enhanced performance in the future for those who like to gamble a little.
Laptops serve as a great all-in-one solution with everything you need to work and play. Accessories like keyboards and a dual monitor set-up are optional. They also come with a range of tech specs, with options for everyday computing tasks right up to high-powered gaming laptops. Build quality is good, although we would have had no objections to using more premium materials. There can be no complaints concerning the variety of ports. A sufficient number of USB and two HDMI ports come as standard and are should be enough for most users. More shouldn't be expected of the built-in SSD due to its SATA connectivity. However, this model is faster than a typical hard drive and 512 GB is a generous amount of storage. If you don't know the hotkey for your computer, you can look and see if a message comes up during POST, telling you what key to press or you can try hitting one of the 12 function keys, the DEL key, the Enter key or the ESC key since it is always one of those. The Beelink U59 is easily one of the better NUC-sized machines we’ve seen, and it’s cheap enough for even the tightest budgets. Its critical feature is the low TPD of just 6W, making this an ideal computer for those who leave systems powered 24/7 or throughout a working day. However, most monitors will use considerably more power than 6W, so the power consumption of the AK2 Plus might not be a critical factor in power saving. If you're running a modern version of Linux such as Ubuntu, you may be able to get to the BIOS by typing "sudo systemctl reboot --firmware" at the command prompt. What if you can't boot your OS or hit a BIOS key? On paper, this looks like a very powerful NUC and a bargain price from Geekom. Based on the 2021 launched Ryzen 9 5900HX mobile processor, this tiny system comes in a single SKU with 32GB of RAM and 1TB of PCIe 3.0 NVMe storage. While the best mini PCs absolutely shine, they’re not without a few downsides. When it comes to specs, mini PCs pale in comparison to modern desktop computers and the very best laptops. This makes it difficult to use hardware-intensive apps and processes, like any of the best video editing software tools. Upgrading those lower-specced internals is usually out of the question. Overall, this is a cheap machine that doesn’t offer much to those wanting to expand its capabilities other than to add a SATA drive. If a mini PC is best, consider how you'll be using your machine. Some Mini PCs are designed to lay flat under a desk while others have a unique vertical design that allows them to be placed on top of your desk next to your monitor and within arm's reach. You can also completely conceal them behind your monitor if they come with VESA mounting holes. The UHD Graphics with only 24 Execution Units is very poor at just 750MHz, and many of the more challenging tests resulted in slideshows where the PC would take longer than a second to render a single frame.
Here's a list of common BIOS keys by brand. Depending on the age of your model, the key may be different. The NiPoGi GK3 Plus N95 is based on the brand-new Intel N95and can therefore be considered an ultra-modern machine. The quad-core machine's performance is good and can be placed on par with the Intel Core i5-11400T, making it quite remarkable what can be squeezed out of the small SoC.However, the built-in RAM, which only runs at 2,666 MT/s, is our biggest point of criticism. The system would have benefited from optimum configuration and also provided it with more power. In addition, we would have expected the implementation of DDR5, as the manufacturer has only gone with single-channel RAM. This means performance is sacrificed from the off. This could have been compensated for by using faster RAM. This NUC doesn’t have many ports, but those soon get used up when considering the internal M.2, SATA port, Gigabit LAN and USB ports. However, there should have been enough to make the M.2 port NVMe spec, and that never happened.
Even with that modest silicon, the U59 performs well at basic tasks and has potential as a small office machine or for embedded applications. For 8GB customers, the RAM can be upgraded to 16GB, along with the M.2 SATA storage. There is also a bay inside for a 2.5-inch drive for even more storage options. The AK2 Plus has all the hallmarks of a mass-produced Mini PC sold under a wide range of brand names, few of which will be familiar to the purchasing public. In testing, the power of this CPU is undeniable, with especially crushing results for any benchmark that uses multiple threads. If this system has an inherent weakness, it is that the Iris Xe GPU isn’t balanced well with the raw performance of the i7-13700H. There isn’t any way to negate that flaw, as it’s baked into the current Intel mobile platform.
