About this deal

Infused with three unique Filtering Luminescent Pearls, each one adds a different drop of diffused light. This community is a friendly space for those with or working with paler complexions to trade tips, offer advice, share recommendations and ask for assistance finding, exploring and experimenting with makeup and skincare that complements lighter complexions. It did create a nice glow and I like using this primer with other foundations but as a person who doesn’t really like primers in general, I didn’t find this essential to creating a flawless base.

Devastated today when trying to repurchase my Backlit Primer to find out that Becca Cosmetics went out of business last year. It didn’t control oil by any means (I was still reaching for the blotting papers at the 4-hour mark, as I usually do), but it kept my makeup on despite the oil.

I tested these primers out by wearing one on the left side of the face and the other on the right side, with the same foundation on top, and I couldn’t tell both sides apart.

The Becca primer is a little thicker and creamier in its texture and obviously has this light, pearly colour, which I do think means it might not be suitable for deeper skin tones because it could leave a silvery cast on the skin. I have hyperpigmentation issues and though it doesn’t hide anything, it makes my skin look so well cared for that those issues don’t seem so pressing.I used it before I started using Becca and although its a bit of a faff to put on (have to put foundation/bb cream on quickly before the flash balm dries if not it pills dreadfully) it always worked brilliantly. Some may like this and wear it without foundation, but not to worry if it’s too shiny for your liking – your foundation applied on top will dull it significantly.

Despite the fact that one looks more natural than the other when you look at these products on its own, most people are going to wear them underneath foundation.Becca suffered an identity crisis at the dawn of Instagram, when lurid marketing and dubious collaborations jarred with its signature chic look and philosophy. Clearly, Physician’s Formula decided to take a page from Becca’s packaging, as both products come in a frosted glass bottle with a pump . It is a known fragrance allergen and as of 1st of March 2022, it has been banned in the EU due to animal studies showing a possible link to infertility (in rats - so no need to panic even if you used a product before with Butylphenyl Methylpropional).

Again, the photo above looks smooth, but I don’t think my skin was all that smooth in real life, especially after the 4- or 5-hour mark. and weightless coverage to facilitate an enviable, airbrushed effect – so you look naturally luminous (and absolutely flawless). After application and it absorbed into my skin, I instantly saw radiance to my skin, INSTANTLY like you use hot water over powdered, pre-mixed white sauce! The primer has a lovely, light fragrance of sweet lemons from the bottle, but it’s not noticeable after applying to your face – I absolutely adore the way this smells. It just seems to impart a healthy glowy evenness to my skin when applied lightly on its own, or under a very sheer foundation.Oh, and one more thing: glabridin seems to be also an antioxidant, which is just one more reason to be happy about licorice root extract on an ingredient list. Taking your skin and making it glow, the brand’s foundations, highlighters and bronzers add a whole lotta radiance to your complexion.
