I only used 1 TBSP of sugar and microwaved in my 700 watts microwave for 2 minutes and it turned out perfect. I like to do a little bit of piping on the top (I used a 1M piping tip for this cake), and piped little swirls on the top. IMPORTANT: For accuracy, I would recommend using the gram measurements provided as those are the exact quantities I use. Butter Buds contains 10 calories per serving and each 2 gram serving is the equivalent to one tablespoon of margarine or butter. Once baked, allow the cake layers to cool in the cake tins for about 15-20 minutes, and then turn them out onto a wire rack to completely cool before frosting with the vanilla buttercream recipe below. To prevent the cake from drying out, place it into an air tight container before placing into the fridge.You can bake this recipe at 350 °F (180°C) for around 10 minutes — just make sure your mug is rated for that temperature. Finish by sprinkling some rainbow sprinkles onto each swirl, and then use the palm of your hands to gently press some of the sprinkles up against the side of the cake (see video for demonstration). Not only can they be made super quickly with small amounts of ingredients you probably already have in your pantry, but they’re a single-serving elevated cake because they steam in the microwave — instead of drying out in the oven. It's also proved to be delicious when added to my cottage pie mix before putting the potatoes on top. Distribute the batter evenly into the two 8 inch cake tins, and bake for 30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Place your first cake layer onto your cake stand, and spread out a generous amount of the frosting on top.
