About this deal

I will say that I never used any of the shortcut buttons on the tablet while working in After Effects. The stylus is very comfortable to hold, thanks to a soft rubbery material used on the stem where your fingers go, and a bulbous design making it easy to grip. I also never noticed the cursor lagging so far behind the pen while drawing that it was a problem, so it gets a pass here.

I feel that they are kind of harder to press than I would personally like, but it’s not something you can’t get used to after using it for a while. Ever since I bought my first Wacom alternative tablet, I've become interested in finding out what other alternative tablets are good, and trying to guide people to see that there's more than just Wacom on the market. If the item comes direct from a manufacturer, it may be delivered in non-retail packaging, such as a plain or unprinted box or plastic bag. The tablet itself is not a touch screen, so to interact with it you use a stylus provided with the tablet. Although I’m not the intended user for a graphics tablet (I presume they are mostly targeting artists) I still see it as a benefit to my workflow. This feature is occasionally hit or miss, sometimes not switching the buttons functions if you don’t use that specific way of getting into the program. The other issue, which is an even smaller one, is that the two buttons on the stylus’ stem don’t always do what they’re supposed to – we had a few issues where pressing the ‘eraser’ option actually just changed to another kind of pen. Hover delay is a problem on drawing monitors because your pen is beside the cursor, so you can see how delayed the cursor is.

These tests are only done in Clip Studio Paint as that is the only program where I totally understand how to remove all unwanted variables. I personally thought that the pen on the XP-Pen Star 03 was slightly more comfortable to use than the pen on the XP-Pen Deco 01, but both tablets should perform roughly the same (although it should be noted that the XP-Pen Star 03 is an older tablet than the XP-Pen Deco 01). Just go download the latest version directly from XP-Pen’s site and remove all other tablet drivers you have on your computer before installing it. If you had to choose between the XP-Pen Deco 01 V2 and the Huion Inspiroy H950P, which would you choose and why?I have created and attached all of the files that were requested in the "Collecting tablet diagnostics" page. If you are looking for this sort of input on Android you would be better off emulating it on a PC which sort of defeats the purpose of having Android support. Another con of this tablet is the pen tapering issue which is common among XP-Pen’s tablets, however, that does not affect drawing very often and I was able to do my drawings without much issue.

XP-Pen doesn’t often use this design feature, but other brands do, as it’s super useful for making sure the stylus is always on (or in) hand. The Deco 01 V2 by XP-PEN won’t be for everyone, but if you are looking to mix up the way you interact with the computer you have been staring at non-stop for the past two years, it might be for you. An example of the ideal test page is the Huion New 1060 Plus (2048) IAF test page which I included above for comparison.I didn’t have any problems controlling my strokes and making both thin and thick lines was relatively easy.
