About this deal

Summertime in the Granite City, the sun is shining, the sky is blue, and the morgue is getting crowded: burnt bodies, murdered junkies, dismembered Labradors, and battered prostitutes. But following a botched raid that leaves a PC in a coma he's palmed off on a DI everyone knows is jinxed, waiting for the axe to fall with all the other rejects in the 'Screw-up Squad'.

Not as realistic or noirish as other crime novels, it does have a real comical sense to it, however I enjoy it just as much. Some more than gory bits if you don’t like that sort of thing, and a couple of times I could’ve slapped one or two of the protagonists because their behaviour seems way out of line, but as a whole I liked most of the police officers and some really nice hissy villains. This is a UK first edition hardcover published by Harper Collins in 2006 AND SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR AND DOODLED WITH HIS LEGENDARY SCABBY DOG, THIS TIME BARKING, "FINGER LICKIN' GOOD! Not that there is no humour- the author has the ability to bring an ironic touch to the darkest scenes - but this is not a crime novel for the faint hearted.

He's determined to escape DI Steel and her unconventional methods, and the best way to do that is to crack the case in double-quick time. A second arson and the death of a prisoner increase the pressure put on the police to solve the cases. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. Praise for Dying Light: 'Another brilliant, riveting police procedural from the new kid on the block.

Dying Light is the second book in the Stuart MacBride penned Logan McRae series and maintains if not betters the standard set in the first. I am a fan of Stuart MacBride, and usually scarf up his books with delight, but with this one it has to be said that the constant trouble with his superiors is taking too much time away from the plot. His careers include scrubbing toilets offshore, graphic design, web design and IT/computer programming. Although both cases seem simple on the surface---turns out the fire’s victims are part of a drug dealer’s inner circle, and what fate is to be expected for working girls in Aberdeen’s red-light district? The story begins with Logan McRae in trouble with his squad commander and going through disciplinary actions. but as the series progresses some of the characters began to become more than slightly annoying and progressed to nearly unreadable.
