About this deal

Beyond Paradise, back then in the year of its release was a floral-bomb with strong zesty-airy morning fresh accord, and nothing but gorgeous. I have no words to describe this amazing fragrance but every time you wear it it's like you live your own fairytale . There is no discernible woody base, as such - but, there is a hint of what I would describe as "woody stems". no one who smelled it particularly liked it on me, it's main attribute was it's sillage and longevity and that's not necessarily a good thing with this perfume, lol.

It's a happy, beautiful floral fragrance, and I'm glad it hasn't lost its magic over the last ten years. I do remember it was a good deal, and the pretty blue ombre bottle variation *may* have overly influenced my decision. Recently, I bought a big bottle waiting to smell that exotic scent BUT nothing reminded of it anymore. This smells very summery, but sometimes I like to wear summer fragrances in the winter, like a little olfactory vacation. I've come to appreciate the strong floral opening, but the dry down features a weird melon/cucumber note that has me reaching for soap and water. With a great selection of the latest in beauty, ladies fashion, menswear, children’s toys and clothing, furniture, home and cookware, Morleys has everything you need all under one roof.

It has the signature Estee Lauder musky aldehydes and longevity, and it is quite a tropical floral mix, so perhaps more appropriate in summer; one can imagine the beach, the sarong and the flower behind the ear. There are sweet, creamy white florals; crisp, fresh florals; elegant, perfumey florals; and musky, vegetal florals. This entry was posted in Counterpoint, fragrance, perfume, places I like and tagged Beyond Paradise, Calice Becker, Counterpoint, Estee Lauder, fragcomm, fraghead, fragrance, jasmine, perfume, perfumista, Portia Turbo, Scents and Sensibilities, Serenity Now, The Eden Project, tropical, white floral. Many other floral notes follow, rounding out the bouquet: orange blossom, sweet jasmine and a prominent ylang ylang note, adding tropical sweetness. The image that comes to my mind is the modern sculpture “Cloud Gate”, by Anish Kapoor, in Chicago’s Millennium Park.

Gardenia bloomed on my wrists, along with jasmine and other notes I sadly cannot remember now (this being 9-10 years later. It is made up of almost two hundred stainless steel plates, welded together so seamlessly that it appears as an unbroken polished surface (shaped like a giant bean, which is its nickname). Beyond Paradise by Estee Lauder Eau De Parfum Spray for Women is a fragrance fantasy…an intoxication of the senses. It reminds me a bit of Elizabeth Taylor's Gardenia, but with stronger acquatic notes and a much more complicated base. horribleness to it that i have now picked up in EL's Beautiful and also horror of horror, my once favourite Spellbound as well. The bottle that I sampled was a previously unopened vintage spray formulation, concentration unknown. You're either going to love this scent or hate it - there's not really a middle ground with this one. I'd say, bottom line, if you like creamy scents and/or a strong honeysuckle note, you'll love this perfume.

It’s as if the fragrance begins high up in the rainforest canopy, and slowly descends to the forest floor, where the light is greener, and the air is close with humidity and pollen. After tying on a silk wrap dress and tucking a lily into your hair, you dab on "Beyond Paradise" before heading to a campfire with music and dancing on the beach. I gifted it to my mom because she loves white floral scents and her Very Hollywood had gone bad, so I wanted to escape the heady gardenia of it, but keep it white floral and jasmine dominant.

This fragrance is described as "exotic", but on me, past the first, short-lived white-flowers whiff of jasmine and gardenia, it smells a bit like sea-spray with a hint of cucumber and oysters. Now it has calmed down and I smell some tropical flowers waving in the wind, some pepper ( and other spices by the way) and wood. In fact, as I attempted to work earlier today, I felt as though I was being slowly suffocated by a miasmic sillage of dead fruits. I have mixed feelings, as I wrote, about white florals; sometimes they’re just too tropical for my mood. That’s also when I smell some underlying fruitiness and green, and a bit of the funk that Portia describes.
