It pains me to leave such a low review, but it is 100% due to the graphic design/editing of this layout. Calendar arrived safely in plastic-free packaging - which I've not seen before with a calendar, so kudos for that. It really isn't too hard to adapt recipes to make them vegetarian-friendly and of course, it depends on what level the person is a vegetarian or vegan. Designed for committed vegans and curious meat-eaters alike, I Can Cook Vegan is a breezy, entertaining recipe guide from a singular chef.

But the book isn't only for meat eaters looking for a better way to live: Isa wants to get vegans to start cooking more so that they can worry less about what they can and cannot eat. The book teaches readers to cook the way someone might learn a new instrument: master a couple of chords, and then start to put them together to form songs. As is my practice with cookbooks, I often shelf-browse at the library, then borrow stacks of interesting ones to flip through at home. I picked this book up because I'm trying to eat more vegetables and I was looking for new recipes without animal protein. I’ve made it three times since Christmas, for someone who’s never been a cake person especially chocolate cake ( I love my pies the best) this cake is lovely. She's transformed the way I cook as a old vegan and she always has the perfect recipe for whatever ingredients I have on hand.

My husband is not a vegetarian by any stretch so I knew some of the main dishes wouldn't be for him. If you are a beginning cook or learning your way around what is vegan, this is a great place to start. Her readers turn to her for recipes that work, whether they're looking for cupcakes that adhere to their diet or comforting Thanksgiving dinners that taste as satisfying as their childhood memories.

Copied off a few I can't wait to try, and I absolutely loved the author's sense of humor and ensuring to include recipes for many of the staple additives featured throughout. Each chapter starts with a new mission, and readers will cook their way through pasta, salads, sandwiches, bowls, sautés, sheet-pan suppers, and sweets—more than 125 recipes! To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. I will admit that I was really quite impressed with how delicious the cookies I made from the book were.
