About this deal

From the bestselling author of Frankly in Love comes a contemporary YA rom-com where a case of mistaken identity kicks off a string of (fake) events that just may lead to (real) love.

Do you think going back and forth in time -- a frequently used plot device in modern novels -- adds tension or interest to the story?I did love the Atlantis myth and all I learned about it while reading this, I thought it really brought the story together. Simply sautéing whole olives in extra virgin olive oil and serving them warm brings out their most flavorful characteristics; with the addition of fresh lemon peel and sprigs of verdant rosemary, they are are oh so juicy and simply bursting with flavor. I'm Lauren, d girl who can almost always be found reading a book, screaming at the Carolina Panthers, and eating too much pizza. This time the setting is the Greek island of Santorini, where during the summer between her junior and senior year of high school, Liv goes to reunite with the father who abandonded her and her mother when she was 8. There are unnecessary chapters and there are sections where the author just kept repeating the same thing over and over again.

Luckily, once in Santorini, Greece, Liv and her dad have everyone on the island as a buffer- especially the attractive camera man and friend also on the project, Theo. Liv has branded herself as a “perfect” person, one who’s popular and pretty and has a perfect boyfriend. Welch spoke with PW about the importance of setting, the place of romance in YA, and her journey to publication. But is a buffer enough as the two of them spend more time together and begin to wonder if reconciliation is possible. Central to the story is the mystery of the lost city of Atlantis and the documentary film her father is making on the subject.

My eye snagged on a red-cheeked garden gnome planted in the flower bed of a yard we were passing, and I found myself praying to it out of sheer desperation. This made me realize that I disliked Olive because I wish I read more about her showing her personality rather than being told that Olive is this and that. I'm not even sure how to rate this because parts of it were creeping into 5 star territory and other parts were rant material. I loved the complexity of the story which came to light once we had all the facts, and it all did so much to show how Liv had grown. Greece is my number one dream destination, and just like with her two previous novels, I couldn’t resist googling each place Welch included in her story.

Or why was he prominent for so long because it really made me less inclined to root for any kind of relationship.
