About this deal

From the award-winning, best-selling creators of Exploding Kittens and Throw Throw Burrito, A Little Wordy is a fresh and ridiculously clever take on the genre of tile-based word-unscrambling games. Scoring in Mantis is a great feeling – a real “Yesss” moment if you have built up a solid collection of a colour and your rainbow comes through for you. On their turn, players look at the top card of the draw pile to decide whether to score all the cards matching that top card within their own hands, or to steal the matching cards from an opponent of their choice.

Play Throw Throw Avocado as a standalone sequel, or use the BONUS deck of cards included and combine them with the cards from Throw Throw Burrito to.To save you from having to carry the board game box all the time, we created a compact card holder To Go for you. During each turn, players look at the top card of the draw pile and decide whether to steal matching cards from an opponent or score all of the matching cards in hand. The card holder ensures a stable stand on the tabletop, preventing your cards from easily toppling over in the heat of battle. If you have chosen to steal and your opponent does have cards that match the colour revealed, you take them from their area into yours (don’t score them yet!

But parents, be warned, your kids will probably beat you, and they’ll want to keep beating you over and over again. To win the game with the sociopathic underwater inhabitants, you must either steal from your opponents or score enough points that they cannot recover from your blow. Foi transformado num jogo autónomo que pode ser combinado com o baralho padrão, aumentando assim o jogo para até 10 jogadores. The box (inside and out), the cards, even the mini comic inside by the Oatmeal explaining just the amazing colour receptiveness of the Mantis Shrimp, is an explosion of colour. If you don’t have the matching colour, the card gets added to your area face up as another colour to be scored later (or STOLEN! The rest of the cards are kept in a draw pile that is left facedown, with the backs of the cards providing the group with clues as to what is contained on the front. Scoring subtly isn’t a bad idea either, especially if a group of players are just stealing back and forth.

Velonimo was a good example of a game that is small, easy to teach, and enjoyable for all player types. There’s not really a way to come back from a major point deficit unless you get extremely lucky, but I also think that’s this kind of game, at its core, so you do have to take it or leave it. Though, sometimes, it’s worth leaving a player with an exposed Tank so that another player can Steal from them. If they don’t have any cards to STEAL in that colour, they get the card added to their own area (again to be scored later or STOLEN!

Even though the cards in the draw pile are faced down, the back of the cards have colourful clues as to what is on the other side.

This means that you can Steal multiple times in a row, or you can chain a Steal into a Score (and potentially lock in the cards that you stole). Try to collect matching sets of cards faster than your opponents while simultaneously ducking, dodging, and throwing squishy airborne burritos. No explicit player count preference, but I’m most likely to play this game at four or fewer players. In fact, we have started playing a variant where we play until the deck runs out just to see who can score and STEAL the most rainbows in total! With the simplicity of UNO and the depth of Gin Rummy, it’s one of the card games for families that should be part of any collection.
