I enjoyed reading this book to my children, but being huge fans of the Nanny McPhee films they found it hard to associate this book as being Nanny McPhee.It serves the story well actually, as I think had it been simply the Nanny McPhee story alone then the book might have seemed a bit lacking and not so special. It was fun and I loved all the lessons the children had to learn and wished mine would learn them as well! If you are the mother of small, impressionable children, and you feel like you spend most days correcting and training your children to behave in society - then these books should probably annoy the crud out of you. In the second book, the children are sent to live with their domineering Great Aunt Adelaide in her London manor.
