About this deal

Cinematographer Anthony Dod Mantle's ( The Last King of Scotland) lensing – a mix of cool black and white footage for the prologue and other parts of the film, and rich but cold color footage - is stunning. HD, 43:53), which is in French and is probably the most essential interview, because it's her character who goes through so much and her character that has taken the brunt of the film's criticisms. Chaos Reigns at the Cannes Film Festival" (HD, 7:22) was something that I thought was going to be both more outrageous and also more insightful than the piece that we've ended up with here. Interview with Charlotte Gainsbourg - an interview with the French actress conducted at the Cannes Film Festival in 2009.

Humourously the effects team admit they’re probably the only people that watch the scene closely, if only to make sure there are no noticeable mistakes. org, one of the premier destinations on the web to discuss DVD releases from The Criterion Collection, Masters of Cinema, and other DVD production companies from around the world.

ich würde niemandem empfehlen, sich so etwas anzusehen, wenn er/sie sich nicht wirklich schon zuvor auf eine extrem rustikale Darbietung eingestellt hat. It remains fairly sharp throughout, though has its soft moments where definition is lacking around the edges, but I feel it was a look von Trier intended. The next section is devoted to the making of Antichrist and has been divided into 6 sections running a total of about 64-minutes. Visual style" (HD, 15:31) takes a look at the stylistic flourishes the film employs, which is about as far away from von Trier's regimented Dogme 95 aesthetic, which compelled filmmakers to use handheld cameras, available light, etc.

Antichrist is divided into four chapters - Grief, Pain (Chaos Reigns), Despair (Gynocide), and The Three Beggars - each focusing on the complex process of coming to terms and eventually overcoming the loss of a loved one. But then things devolve into messy horror movie clichés, which resolve with some kind of bafflingly misogynistic image of dead women, throughout the ages, coming out of the woods, in a ghostly march. In a cynical sort of way, Antichrist shows that sex is a form of therapy that works (religion isn't even mentioned). And despite it being rather good, in the end I have to say the feature is almost ruined by its bizarre style: In an effort to maybe lift if above most talking-head features there’s a heavy use of split screens, which make it incredibly distracting. The movie devolves, particularly in the last act, into a kind of ragged, go-for-broke horror movie, complete with talking animals, malevolent forces, and Gainsbourg being turned (quite unfairly, in this reviewer's opinion) into a kind of demonic witch who takes her aggression out on her husband and herself, including some gag-worthy scenes of genital mutilation that oscillate between extreme realism and phony, rubber prosthetic fakeness. Postproduction and color timing were done using Assimilate's SCRATCH and Nucoda's Film Master systems. A new restoration of the 1974 Italian exorcist film The Antichrist directed by Alberto De Martino starring Carla Gravina and Mel Ferrer and featuring an amazing score by Ennio Morricone. Written while on the road to recovery following a serious bout of depression, Lars Von Triers film seems to portray one mans fears and discomfort out in the public view.
