About this deal

Simpler times, where I can idealize eras that were more visceral and connected to non digital sources of living. It goes from syrupy to watery in the dry down and, drying down is the best part, it literally smells dryer and better.

Just a little bit sweet lemon at first, then cloves-levander-juniper and finally oakmoss, birch and a touch of leather. hours have passed and Bogart got swallowed by Interlude Black Iris, and Ganymede is picking up some steam.

The beginning is a pretty sharp bergamot rush that fades behind a warm curtain of tonka and lavender and a dash of florals humming in the background. I told her all about it and she made a face and shrugged, as if to say “fine, it you WANT to smell like that…. However, for being a Bogart fragrance, it surprisingly does not perform as well as the other Bogarts (which are all nuclear), so I ended up giving this away - although I do love how it smells. My Initial thoughts on this fragrance were a bit wrong, this is rather a powerful fragrance with high silage and great longevity.

On the positive of this is that its scent its really good and unfamiliar so you will not smell like all the others. bright and can't say anymore) Sally Marion(just really like her) and now Tommy with Studio Scents my new favorite.

If you like older leather chypres (this really doesn't smell like a fougere to me as I don't get any lavender out of this), you should not pass this up. With the slogan “I create only for men” at its heart, the Jacques Bogart line has gained impressive popularity due to its emphasis on crafting scents that provide a distinctly masculine elegance. A tonka overload for sure but along with the other pyramid notes it all comes out to a fruity cherry pipe tobacco blend.

It's a casual fragrance for me, not formal, flashy, or even sexy, but mildly enjoyable when I'm in the mood for it. Wouldn't say outdated, easily worn on a brisk fall day by anybody 30+ with a hankering for old school vibes. The spicy evergreen scent fades quickly and the woody base is all that's left after about 20-30 minutes. I wish it had a small amount of the creaminess that Paco has, but that is outweighed by the spice and sharp/hard hitting aromatic notes. It has elements that I really like (not least the sweet tonka tobacco) but it mostly seems super-clean and bright to my nose and I wonder whether people smelling it on me don't find it excessive.

The florals are just accessorial to the following base and are not so characterizing while a starring presence is represented throughout by the fresh lavender/watery citric notes accord that manteins a sort of cool-aqueous vibe in the middle of the creamy tobacco (the typical "aqueous creaminess" of the scent) becoming finally a sort of white radiant powder. I don't get much floral notes, but its definitely a sweet vanilla matched to powder, covered a watery aquatic tone, but not the 'sport' or body wash kind of aquatic notes. It's likely to seem somewhat dated by today's standards, but were it to be more available, I'd include at least a sample in my own collection. This I knew prior to trying it, but with a name like Bogart, I was expecting a much darker cherry with some deeper notes.
