About this deal

Clay soils can be very slow to warm up in Spring and very slow to drain, plus also very difficult to dig over and therefore not ideal for gardening! I’ve since used it on flower beds with compost and in a matter of 3 weeks the soil is crumbly and friable. Winter Tree Wash is a blend of natural plant and fish oils for control of insect and aphid eggs on fruit trees and bushes during the dormant season. When to use: Granulated for easy use around the garden, Clay Breaker can be used at any time of the year.

I had not intended it for indoor use, I will wait and see if the flowers on the hall carpet improve. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. I rotivated mine, pulled out the biggest lumps of clay and chucked them away then stuck in loads of compost and kept adding more once a year in the autumn and now it's much better (3 years later). DirectBulbs is a family business with over 20 years of experience in the horticulture industry and we pride ourselves in responding quickly to your queries. It’s definitely a waiting game with the product so don’t expect overnight results (the product information does say this). In our garden you can see where we walked a lot in the 6 months after laying the lawn (we took down and added a new shed so there was lots of tramping back and forth) as the grass doesn't grow as much or as strongly as the other areas (stays short and not as dark green).

It will break up even the heaviest clay, making soil easier to work, improving drainage and enhancing soil warmth to encourage crops to grow earlier. It is widely mined and is used as a fertilizer and as the main constituent in many forms of plaster, blackboard/sidewalk chalk, and drywall. Wonderfully situated in Wychbold near Droitwich, West Hagley near Stourbridge, Cheltenham and also Millets Farm in Oxfordshire, Webbs is a family business committed to providing the very best for your garden and home. Clay Breaker is ideal for use in all clay-based soils and will break up even the thickest soil to make it ea. Westland Sulphate of Iron is ideal for Ericaceous and acid-loving plants, plus has immediately available Iron for best plant growth.

Throwing a SPOTLIGHT ON anything we have that is little bit special, unusual or worthy of basking in the limelight. Again, if the soil is rough dug and left in large lumps, the grit and manure are spread across the surface, winter wet and frost do the work.

I have raised beds already but stupidly dug in the clay soil into the bed and added compost which hasn't helped break it up. adds that all important humus to the ground, the organic matter that keeps those clay particles apart, improving the structure of your soil and giving your plants the best possible growing conditions. I have dug in sacks and sacks of compost but nothing is working as when it's wet it is waterlogged and when it dries out it's like cement! We had some landscaping work done in our garden and a small digger compacted the turf area, so much so I had to lay a new turf myself.

Because there are lots of them they have a big surface area which efficiently hangs on to water and nutrients. In the event of this taking place a member of staff will be in touch to discuss your options or you can contact us on 01924 280306 for more details. On extremely heavy, solid clay adding grit to the ground in autumn can be very effective, especially if it is spread on the soil surface with copious amounts of organic matter such as garden compost or bulky manure. I intend to use it this winter on flower beds as frost is said to give it the best results (although for me, so far, the results have been awesome).
