I used Corefix Air fixings to hang and secure new kitchen wall cabinets to a dot and dab over aerated concrete block wall. Its unique steel core transfers the load to the blockwork behind the plasterboard, preventing the plasterboard from crushing into the void. Check out some YouTube videos of them, the trick is in the massive surface area that they have to hold the back of the plasterboard.Further it lets me now contemplate stuff like floating shelves knowing my fixing will be spot on, and not have one sag or hold a shelf not dead flat etc.

I've used appropriate lengths of 15mm copper pipe or, for heavier loads such as large radiators, slices of a broom handle (with a hole drilled through the centre) to do this and it works perfectly fine.
