About this deal

An eye-opening, fast-paced account of an undercover cop, from one of the few women in an elite investigative unit. She also referred to practical examples and shared some anecdotes backed up by evidence to drive the message home. At 21 she fell pregnant and hastily married her daughter’s father – it was a disastrous relationship which ended up in the courtroom with Danni fighting for custody.

I did enjoy the stories that Danni went into about being an undercover police officer but it did drag on in parts. For over a decade Danni Brooke was one of the most effective female undercover cops in the UK, one of a very small number of women in the Met’s elite unit. So interesting and I really enjoyed how she included snippets from her personal life as well including relationships and her children. And since she was one of the only women within this elite unit she became known as ‘The Girl for the Job’. Danni is most recently an author of her best-selling book – The Girl for The Job (PanMacmillan) Danni has transferred her investigative skills to Online.

With over 10 years experience working as an undercover operative with the Metropolitan Police, Danni learned a lot about personal and social media security which she shares with her keynote audiences. She has delivered keynote speeches to audiences that include students, security experts, and law enforcement professionals and draws on her own experiences to capture the imagination of her listeners and convey her message to them. Now she is not an undercover police officer any longer but she has her own business with her partner involving cyber security on a large scale so give it a few years and she will be ready for the next book! And though her extraordinary bravery and quick-thinking earned her commendations, today she takes a more critical view of her police work. My life was full of danger every day and I couldn't tell my friends or family what I did for a living. Though I’m proud of what I did, taking out some really nasty characters, I can see that drugs problem isn’t going to be solved unless there is some serious thinking at a governmental level. It faded a little towards the end, with a lot getting crammed into a few chapters and losing engagement for me.

Since leaving the force in 2013 she has built up a successful career as an investigator on C4’s Hunted , now in its tenth series. I didn't know she had been on Hunted, it's not something I ever watched and I don't know why because I'd probably love it. For over a decade, Danni Brooke was one of the most effective female undercover cops in the UK, one of a very small number of women in the Met’s elite unit. It meant that although she was officially employed by the MET she became an ‘asset’ for the entire UK, working all over the country. Did some undercover work which was low level, and most cops have done similar levels and then she did office jobs. It was while she was pregnant the second time that she suffered a personal trauma which forced her to take time off and reassess her priorities. Whether infiltrating organized crime gangs or disrupting drug supply lines, Danni played the innocent Essex girl, fooling even the most suspicious villains, using her quick wits to keep her out of trouble. Since 2010 she has ghosted eleven books for some of the UK's major publishers and two privately-commissioned memoirs.
