About this deal

This allows the ICU to be locked in tight and essentially become a part of the bag’s internal structure.

Note: This review is not sponsored and is based entirely on my opinion and experience using the F-Stop Tilopa. I then reached out to F-stop about testing one of their bags to see if I liked it enough to become my new primary camera carrier, a few weeks later a Tilopa showed up at my doorstep. The rubber loops act as a catch to hold your gear in place so it can’t slide down while you’re on the go. There are multiple hanging points for an ice axe along with compression straps on the back of the bag for securing even more gear.As with the rest of my gear, I want a photo bag to be functional and comfortable, durable and I want it to look cool too.

Suitable for: Recommended use: expedition, hillwalking, ski touring, travel Main material: 100% polyamide Fabric treatment: PU coated Fabric properties: highly water repellent, extremely abrasion-resistant Carry system: with carry handle, padded back, padded hip belt, padded shoulder straps, chest strap, aluminium frame Venting: via the carry system Additional features: 2 front compartments, laptop compartment (17"), ice axe/pole holder, lid compartment, tripod holder, ski/snowboard carry system, 2 side pockets Hydration system: compatible Volume: 50 l Weight: 1,900 g Extras: compression straps, incl. After my struggles to find accurate dimensions for the bag, I knew I would need to weigh it to see whether the weight claims were valid. It is made from a new, original DuraDiamond™ material exclusively available from F-Stop which is significantly stronger to adverse weather conditions and is lighter than previously used. Back in 2020 I wrote a review of the Tilopa ( read it here) but since then it has been updated and as I have been using the new and improved DuraDiamond Tilopa for a few months now, I thought it was time to update my review. The backpacks have no internal compartments for your gear so once you have selected the bag you then need to choose a camera bag insert, or ICU (internal camera unit) as F-stop refer to it, to go in it. F-stop bags don’t come with an ICU block, however, there are lots of options to choose from and plenty of external attachments to fully customize the bag for your needs. Rather than the ICU being an afterthought, it is clear that F-Stop has built their bags around the ICU itself. The zippers are easy to access anyway, and it takes no time to open it and close it once you are in the field. Comfortable to adjust and fully removable compression straps for the backpack provide an additional harness for example a tripod.

Now available in DuraDiamond™ fabric with improved weather resistance, additional organisational features and upgraded hardware and with 50 litre volume, you will enjoy exceptional storage capacity with the Pro Large ICU (included in the Essentials Bundle) providing room for multiple cameras, attached lenses and long telephoto lenses. Currently I carry a Canon 5D Mark3 body, a 16-35mm, 24-70mm, 70-200mm, two Canon speed lights, radio flash transmitter, batteries and other miscellaneous gear. The Tilopa BC is full of pockets which for people that are always looking for a spot to carry every little thing, F-Stop has you covered. If you want the details and photos of non-recommended-for-Tilopa ICUs, please read my F-Stop ICU guide. Unzipping the pocket reveals a mesh pocket on the lid flap and a pair of fleece-lined pockets that are great for sunglasses or even circular photography filters if you don’t want to put them in a case.Ending this review with the same question as I ended the last review with… is this the perfect camera bag?
