About this deal

I’ll admit, the whole wattpad label had me a little bit conflicted on my expectations with this book, but it most certainly passed my expectations.

We get to hear out the beauty that exists in pain and get closer to understanding why we humans are so damn. Read, scroll, or watch - there's an experience for everyone to dive into Waverly and Blake's journey. It tells the story of a young boy who creates a boat out of newspaper, once outside with his boat, a massive rainstorm arrives, his boat floats away, and the adventure begins! It took us less than a week to read this aloud as a family because we had a hard time putting it down every night.

Hundreds of years of experience of fishing with stick floats packed into this book, including many tales from the golden age of match fishing on England's waterways. i recommend to anyone who loves YA books with a sweet romance, a strong friendship group, and found family.

While I love the expression of his style, I actually think the even more important part of the brilliance of the illustration is the strength of his color palette and execution. Aunt Rachel is so fabulous and made me want to move to a beach town to be a freelance artist for a living. My three year old was reading it to herself today while I wrote, and when she closed it she turned to me and sighed, “That boy is so lucky! In the following pages, the colors stay muted, aside from the appearance of one of those sets of hands in the form of a boy and his rigid, sleek, yellow rain gear.

NGL I feel like this was boring throughout the whole time and the characters were super scattered 😭 it wasn’t necessary bad but like. I did enjoy reading Waverly and Blake grow with each other over the summer, it was more than just Blake teaching her how to swim, it was him teaching her how to conquer her fears and become more flexible and less anxious and he helped her open up in more ways than one. like teenagers put up a tough front at times, but are truly just looking for someone to listen and talk to. Because she is my friend, I won’t forget how she’s shown me how blues can be bluer and silence can be the loudest and love knows no time or physicality—it is just there waiting to embrace all the parts you think it doesn’t cherish. Blake is currently working as a lifeguard, and his mother died from drowning when he was little, so he’s determined to make sure that Waverly learns how to swim.Almost all of the wordless books I have highlighted have used a very simple concept and then allowed the illustrations to explode with the detailing. Laid into this copy is the original thirteen page publisher's booklet (100 x 105mm) advertising the book. This is to simply put all the vividness, seaside, colors, a ghost of a father rescuing his daughter, and pockets of Australia that began to feel like a second home.

Also, she had forgotten her phone in Alaska, which was just a little bit of an absurd situation that I found hard to take seriously. Blake also has a lot of issues with his stepmother in terms of both of them misunderstanding the other, and he finds out his girlfriend is cheating on him at the start of the book, so he has a lot of issues, but at least manages to not be super angsty over it for the most part. After his autobiography Beyond the Flames and his eclectic anthology London’s Firefighters, David C.

The secondary characters here were incredible, I loved Jesse and Lena and their twin relationship, it was hilarious to read but I need Lena to find love, too!
