About this deal

The publisher also released a Scots version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory last month, in which translator Matthew Fitt transformed the Oompa Loompas into the Heedrum-Hodrums, Violet Beauregarde into Violet Boakregarde and the Great Glass Elevator into Wullie Wonka’s Muckle Gless Lift. Julia Donaldson, the 2011-2013 Children's Laureate, is the outrageously talented, prize-winning author of the world's most-loved picture books including The Gruffalo and What the Ladybird Heard. Post moderation is undertaken full-time 9am-6pm on weekdays, and on a part-time basis outwith those hours. A video of Jessica reading the Glasgow adaption of the children's book has been viewed by thousands on Facebook.

I used to memorise poems as a child and it means a lot to me when parents tell me their child can recite one of my books. The Gruffalo storybook carvings at Kilmardinny Loch are really lovely and even if you and your little haven’t read the book I’m sure you’ll enjoy seeing the carvings of the various animals and characters. There is quite a lot of detail in them too, so lots for tiny tots to explore (and labradors, apparently).Eleven exciting translations of these popular books are also available in different dialects of Scots including Doric, Dundonian, Shetland and Orcadian. Our team is made up of book lovers who are dedicated to sourcing and providing the best books for kids. The best-selling children's classics The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo's Child were originally translated into the Scots language for Itchy Coo by James Robertson.

We work separately - he’s in London and I’m in Glasgow - but he sends me letters with lovely funny pictures on the envelopes. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. Come down the travelators, exit Sainsbury's, turn right and follow the pedestrianised walkway to Crown Walk and turn right - and Coles will be right in front of you.

However if you’re beside the community centre and you turn around towards the woods, head up the wee path into the woods behind you and you will find the Gruffalo, owl, fox and a bunch of other lovely wooden carvings from the book. The wee gallus moose squares uptae an auld owl, a sleekit snake an a ginormous gruffalo in a new version of Julia Donaldson’s classic picture book The Gruffalo, now translated into Glaswegian. If you head along the ‘road’ back towards the community centre you’ll also find a wooden boat and a mud kitchen right next to the community centre. Everybody loves The Gruffalo's Child and now you can enjoy this children's classic for the very first time in Glaswegian!

I really enjoy getting the children in the audience to help me act out the stories and sing the songs. But the Gruffalo's Wean is pure gallus and tough, and wan wintry night she dauners oot intaethe snow. Granted, it turned out to be a lovely day when we were there which can make anything seem much nicer, but it is a beautiful and quiet little place.
