About this deal

Our foundation screws can be used for virtually any structure or fixture that needs to be anchored to the ground. The main obstacle for screws overtaking concrete in many foundation projects, is simply because they are new and concrete is what builders are used to. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. An advantage of using our foundation systems compared to concrete, is not only the speed, efficiency and overall cost of installing them, but also in the fact that we can install them during the winter months even in frosted ground.

Our new 550mm Ground Screw can easily be installed and removed by hand using our unique Installation Tool. Reduced Carbon Footprint: The production of concrete is energy-intensive and generates significant CO2 emissions. As it turns out the little screw that bonded the 2 ground bars together rusted from years of moisture. If we are limited to 'listed' hardware there should be no need to say Sheet metal screws shall not be used to connect grounding conductors to enclosures. The bare ground wire in the electrical box is supposed to connect to the green screw on that short metal bar.

Nothing worse than trying to change an outlet or something after 10 years and all the screws are rusted and break off. Wet Conditions: During rainy seasons or in wet climates, the soil may be softer or waterlogged, which could affect the stability and installation process of the screws. I make covers for the top on a lot of outdoor and often spritze the inside of those boxes with spray before mounting the devices. This doesn't seem right to me although I feel that if the fixture has a surge of some kind, it WILL go through the grounding wires as they are connected right now so it SEEMS like it would be safe, but I must be missing something here.

I think that if the hole that is drilled and tapped up to 10-32 into a box that is at least the same thickness of a 4" square box (16 guage) then it would be be sufficent for grounding. It isn’t easy to find good partners in any industry, so having one here that goes beyond the parameters of expectation is incredible. In my opinion, it would be up to the inspector to determine that there isn't at least two threads engaged rather than me having to prove that there are. Soft Soils: Our screws work well in various soft soil types, including clay, silt, and loam, where they can easily penetrate and provide stable anchorage.and I didn't realize it, because I was told the inspector wouldn't pass us if there wasn't a green screw in every box he checked out. Some panels or boxes have the ground hole pierced so there is more surface area for the threads of the screw. I've recently been told that a self-tapping screw will not cut it as most do not penetrate adleast 2 threads into the metal. Brass or stainless screws would be great but I usually put a dab of anti seize and drill a weep hole in the box.A forum community dedicated to professional electricians, contractors, and apprentices for residential and commercial work. I agree with jeffnc that it probably IS ok to do it this way but it still seems lazy on their part and is not optimal. metres apart in relatively solid ground so you do not need as many as you would with shorter and slimmer ground screws. The box is metal and the the grounding wire is not connected to the screw or any other part of the box.
