I studied this when did my applied social science degree, and found it highly relevant to my career. Mike Haralambos wrote the first edition of Sociology Themes and Perspectives while a lecturer at Preston College in the late 1970s.

Discover the joy of reading with us, your trusted source for affordable books that do not compromise on quality. Finally, there are some topics which I feel could have been included that were absent, cities/urban studies and organisational sociology.Consolidate your learning with the quick-reference conclusions and summaries at the end of each chapter. Stay relevant with the most up-to-date developments, empirical studies and theories while consolidating your learning with quick-reference conclusions and summaries at the end of each chapter. Sociology: Themes and Perspectives has been the best-selling textbook for sociology students for more than 20 years, selling more than a million copies worldwide.

The only reason I gave this a 3 is because the packaging was very flimsy and the book came with a torn cover. Sociology Themes and Perspectives is a favourite with students and teachers, selling over a million copies world-wide over 25 years. Increasingly influential concepts and approaches such as postmodernism, the sociology of modernity and globalization are integrated into existing chapters as well. Stephen Moore is a well-known textbook author and has contributed to previous editions of Sociology Themes and Perspectives. This seventh edition has been fully updated to give all the detail and depth needed to get students the best grades and prepare teachers for teaching.

It is hard to think of any significant area of social life that has never been the subject of a sociological study. As someone who regrets not taking Sociology at sixth form, and instead spent his gap year doing it, I thoroughly recommend it. Continuing in the tradition of the 'blue bible', this book is so excellent simply because it is so comprehensive.
