Strong but softly sweet woods up front, eventually drying down to a smoother and sweeter vanilla with peru balsam (which is one of my favorite notes ever), which is close to skin after a few hours. I'm glad I gave this a second chance, usually if I don't like a perfume on the first try, I often just add it to my sell/swap list straight away (big mistake, I know), but I tried this one a second time months after receiving it through a swap, and now I'm loving it, and have quickly removed it from the swap list and displayed it on my perfume stand.

The scent is gorgeous (still not in love with the opening spray but it gets so much better), woody warm vanilla, I would agree that it's more of a fall-winter perfume. I do enjoy Michael Kors fragrances so it is odd to me that I can barely detect anything on my skin upon spraying- does anyone find that this is strong? If you are looking for a fall/winter fragrance and love La Vie Est Belle or Flowerbomb than this is an absolute must have!

Imagine all dressed up wearing a black velvet gown while opening an expensive champagne bottle after a celebration, that's how this perfume smells like! It's a must-have for the evening on the town once again Michael Kors has out done himself with this new aluminum fragrance midnight shimmer. It doesn't tone it down but it adds a nice, smooth woody aspect to it that almost always serves to complement the original fragrance. As a few reviewers below mentioned, I too thought it was remarkably similar to Le Couvent des Minimes' Eau des Missions cologne.

But I highly recommend to those upset by it's discontinuance ( which is always inevitable of the best scents! I absolutely adore this perfume, it's one of my all time favourites and I'm beyond gutted that it's been discontinued. The downside is that it’s VERY weak, you’ll probably have to spray at least 10 times to get any decent performance out of this. It isn't isn't very complex, I don't detect too many notes outside of vanilla, but in cool weather, I think it will be one to wear! The final dry down is a soft, unsweetened, waxy vanilla that is odd and somewhat unpleasant on my skin. After the initial couple seconds of alcohol settles down, you get left with a very sweet, soft and cozy brown sugary vanilla scent. Soon after this juicy blast came the wood notes, which here were not the least bit astringent, and then developed an ultra-warm vanilla, not sticky sweet, not overly boozy, but real vanilla. At first you get a bitter sweet burst, almost alcohol like but then it quickly settles into a syrupy sweet vanilla, jasmine,amber and then finally settles into a warm vanilla, amber sweetness.When it arrived and I sprayed it on my skin, I don’t think I’ve ever been more disappointed because it is actually THE MOST GENERIC vanilla I have ever smelt. With the weather cooler this is spot on; a rich ambery, powered vanilla with some sweet ripe fruits to lighten it just slightly. Longevity is not good as much as i expected but it s okay, sillage is okay too, it doesnt come across as a skin perfume on me. It is sweet warm and inviting however the musk and wood definitely shines through which sets it apart from other sweet vanilla fragrances.
