Alternative' Pop from Manic Street Preachers, Simple Minds, Paul Weller and Tears For Fears complete side one - whilst the flip side salutes the dancefloor: Dance-Pop filled the charts in 1992, and this side explodes into action with worldwide hits 'Rhythm Is A Dancer' from SNAP! two from Take That (‘A Million Love Songs’, ‘I Found Heaven’) and the same from Simply Red (‘Your Mirror, Thrill Me). opens Side Two, which includes The Cure’s ‘Friday I’m In Love’, Electronic’s ‘Disappointed’, Marc Almond, Boy George – and the beautiful and sophisticated ballad ‘The One’, from Elton John. NOW Music is proud to present the next instalment of the 'Yearbook' series - and our first to celebrate the '90s, 'NOW - Yearbook 1992'; 43 tracks from a brilliant year in Pop! Bring back memories just picture it hearing on the radio some of these, classics forgotten selection of creditable, recognised artists, groups, good to listen once more. With the benefit of hindsight we can see that 1992 is a great big pop intersection where 80s pop stars are wondering what they need do to stay relevant, new pop/rock acts are establishing themselves and the dance scene is still thriving.

Floor-fillers from CeCe Peniston, Dina Carroll, Shanice and En Vogue follow, before 'My Destiny' from Lionel Richie completes the disc.Pretty decent overview but wondering why they used the Perfecto Mix of Even Better Than The Real Thing. Hawkins and the collaboration between Patty Smyth and Don Henley provided massive radio-friendly soft Rock – and Chris Rea and Elton John each released a timeless and sophisticated ballad, before great vocals from Des’ree, Julia Fordham and Lisa Stansfield sign off the disc. That was one of only 13 chart-toppers in Britain in 1992 and a creditable nine are included in Yearbook ’92. If the 90’s are your bag and you’re looking for a nostalgic deep dive, this album is worth a listen. Loads of classics, forgotten tracks and one hit wonders are scattered amongst the 4 discs on offer here. Not all of these surprises are pleasant (see Nick Berry’s Heartbeat, Billy Ray Cyrus’ Achy Breaky Heart and Urban Hype’s ‘A Trip To Trumpton’) but hey, these were hits at the time! This album definitely brings back the memories of hearing them on the radio before or after a school day. Crowded House finally crack the UK top 10 with ‘Weather With You’ and the single remix of Tori Amos’s ‘Crucify’ ( Tears For Fears fans should note that this song is co-produced by Ian Stanley and features Chris Hughes on drums! George Michael (‘Too Funky’), Sade (‘No Ordinary Love’), Electronic (‘Disappointed’) and Annie Lennox (‘Why’). It’s definitely presented as a transition/turning point of a year in music, plenty of 80s artists still around (Bon Jovi, Simple Minds), the beginnings of Britpop (Suede, The Manics), the rise of boybands (Take That, East 17) and the Eurodance sound that would go on to dominate the next few years (Snap!
