About this deal
This Islay distillery is one of the lesser know, probably because the largest part of its production is destined for the blends, particularly Johnnie Walker. Unless mandatory applicable law provides otherwise, your use of and membership to the Service are exclusively governed by Dutch law. The nose is reminiscent of Lapsang Souchong tea, exceptionally smokey with undertones of sweet sherry and vanilla.
I find this to be a very enjoyable whisky, one of the few bottled at 43% that I would drink over a diet soda (unless I was just thirsty, then I'd have the soda). Please read our Privacy Statement for more information on our use and processing of your personal information.I love Caol Ila too for its profile but the recent ones I’ve had taste more “burnt” which makes me think they’re just really distilling for volume now which affects quality. Distillery/Brand Caol Ila Classification Scotch Whisky Region Islay Style Single Malt Size 70cl ABV 54. I have tried mixing Arran Sherry Single Cask 12 with some success, so long as the Caol Ila is at least 60% of the blend. The Caol Ila distillery is located on Islay, near Port Askaig, overlooking the strait between Islay and Jura, and was founded in 1846.
A single malt that many lust after, Lagavulin 16 Year Old is a southern Islay offering which combines bright rich notes with a light dryness, creating an interesting, concentrated flavour. The mouthfeel isn’t as oily as we often get from this distillery but there a little creaminess here. A little water raises almond oil and old fashioned oilskins; still a fresh fruitiness, a trace of olive oil, and after a while potpourri or scented hand-soap.
