About this deal

Something that might be a ‘pro’ for one user can be a ‘con’ for another, so the comments are categorised based on my requirements.

After that, it becomes a bunch of “why not this why not that” because any mode of flood can be matched with any mode of spot. That’s right, at 5V, the LR40R can output almost four amps, and the voltage doesn’t really even sag a meaningful amount. The torch features a USB-A discharging port which allows it to be used as a power bank for charging external digital devices. Please note, all quoted lumen figures are from a DIY integrating sphere, and according to ANSI standards. When opening the light you immediately notice that the LR40R retrieves its power from a battery pack.

They say that the floodlight is fantastic and is perfect for illuminating the full width of the path ahead. A really low, and energy efficient mode is missing which makes the LR40R not that great for use indoors. Its an exceptionally narrow beam and can illuminate an area probably 3 times as far as the max flood on the TK72R.The battery pack falls over a metal pole in the casing so it always sits securely and does not rattle during use. At first I was worried about the usability of the rotary switch because the icons are so small and you can’t see them when it’s dark out.

This does also mean that during runtimes, it’s not possible (with my setup) to capture absolutely all of the output. The included battery pack is charged inside the torch via the USB Type-C charging port, which is located on the neck of the torch. Striking is that this 773 meter is not mentioned in the runtime and output schedule on the back of the box, this is namely the range of the light when it uses all LED lights at full strength. COM logo and mascot is a trade mark of MAD Supplies Ltd and may not be used or duplicated without our written permission for any use. The Fenix LR40R is a rechargeable 12000-lumen flashlight offering spot and flood, USB-C charging, and powerbank features.seconds to turn the light on and then each press will cycle through low, mid, high I, high II and turbo. The five charging indicators that sit above the two buttons will gradually illuminate until all four are solid to show charging is complete, the torch takes only fours hours to fully charge from empty. Below my 'wall shots': The LR40R pointed at a white wall to make sure you can clearly see the colour and the profile of the light.

Also regarding low voltage protection – while the light steps down to Eco of the Spot emitter, the indicating switch is also blinking a single blue light (very quickly).Lock the light or take out the battery to prevent accidental activation during storage or transportation. If you need a lot of a light at larger distances the TK75-2018 or the RC40-2016 could be a better fit.
