You can both hate them and care for them at times, it shows me how human, interesting and well-crafted they are.

There were aspects of this book that I really enjoyed, but there was a lot that felt predictable or inconsequential. People flock to see me just as much as they come to look upon his gleaming castle worth more than all the riches in the entire realm. I want to apologise to all the Greek Retellings I've read and the people of Greece on behalf of this book. It also has potential for great character growth and more world-building as we will (hopefully) get to discover more about the other kingdoms.Many people who don't understand abusive relationships tend to criticize the victim for staying in their situation instead of fleeing, and this book perfectly showcases the victim's insecurities, conflicting thoughts and fears when they're shown alternatives to the hell they're suffering.

So far, we know that the realm of Oria is divided into 6 kingdoms, each one ruled by a different king. But even though it was hard to read about her “love” for Midas, I’m very excited to see how she grows and develops later.

He turned her gold - for reasons unknown - and keeps her caged up in his golden palace to apparently just watch him indulge himself in carnal exploits.

The story was exciting and given how wide and variation this universe is, I see a lot of potential for this series and it could ascend so high if it done properly. The magic was later explained back to the Fae, but I felt their existence was not required and was thrown in for the sake of it. Also, Raven Kennedy addresses several difficult topics in this series which are challenging to read but absolutely necessary.So I will fight for him and he will kill for me, and if we need to become the villains, then so be it. Auren desperately wants friends and basic social interactions, and we can see her slowly coming out of her shell, and I can’t wait for her to realize how badly Midas is treating her. She also gets to form caring friendships that show glimpses to her, without her even realizing, of how a healthy relationship with someone should be, and who her beloved really is.
